Sadly all OEM will have it at some point.

I hope the compact is not as pictured in the renders.. The bezels should be significantly lower and should be comparable to present day devices... With huge bezels they won't see the daylight |

very interesting. i don't remember it was ever mentioned anywhere.
sensor with DRAM means it will be almost guaranteed to be used for Xperia flagship |

First - sorry for bad spelling 🤷♂️
So . . . a smart combo with a
(1) replacement of my wonderful xperia z3 tablet compact with a keybord,
(2) an multifunctional earpiece, and
(3) a smart watch
— is my future. Will replace 90+ % of my necessities - the rest 10% is food 😎

This is exactly what I need too.
Replace my z3 tablet compact that has 0 battery life.
Replace my PowerBeats3 with something better.
Replace my LG G Watch R (great watch btw but it's getting old now).
But I also need to replace my XZs with a new device, hopefully I won't have to switch brands or ecosystem...
5 more weeks guys!

Guys is there any chance of xz4 having a front facing tof senosor
It would be a great addition
Also it would allow face scanning
Employing one on the front will be great in my opinion
The phone surely needs some standout features to be relevant at its price point |

I agree. BTW, the presence of bezels, although has greatly improved, will still definitely put customers off against Samsung and other OEM flagships with bezel-less displays. Without a standout feature, this new era of Sony phones will be doomed against them.
I also believe that, a strong lowlight camera performance isn't enough to bring customers back to Sony. All flagship phones nowadays can do that.
A standout feature like Optical Zoom that oppo is developing is something that can attract alot of attention. Megapixels and improved low-light won't give a big impact.
