Yeah, I just turned off my AF light, and it's still light on..
ALSO, anyone noticed that when charging the phone, the battery indicator doesn't shows the charging animation anymore (it's still charging the phone though)
What a buggy FW |

Actually they made it even easier - if you turn the AF light off in the menu, the AF light will still be on until you turn off the xenon flash through the d-pad. that's 2 lights in one click. In my part I found it pretty useful. |

I would call that a bug, though |

I'm not overly excited by the new firmware, so won't be busting my gut to get it
But I do have one question - did anyone actually manage to do the R1DA update using the FOTA update service?
or is that now near as damn it obsolete?

for me I would call it improvment rather than bug !!
AF light is needed for all dark macro shots
AF light = ON
on in All
AF light = OFF
on in macro
off on the others
which is good I think _^ |

- new look of incoming message
How is it different on yours? Do you have Activity Menu or Pop-Up selected in General > New events?
I have Pop-Up but it seems the same as before.

Re: New firmware for the C905 - R1EA033.
I've noticed some other benefits, after only upgrading accidentally after the phone crashed irrepariably when removing and replacing the SIM. Hopefully this list will be a comprehensive collection from earlier posts!
1) Signal is much more stable in low-reception areas. With R1DA032 the signal would jump between 1-5 bars when attempting to connect to the network (by making a call etc). This hasn't happened with the new FW.
2) Menu and Media player interfaces are faster.
3) New 'slider' option in the service menu, doesn't seem to do much but presumably we're not supposed to know!
4) Camera driver upgraded to 2.8, there are different defaults regarding the AF light.
5) SMS and MMS are now notified on the 'events' window by default. This can be changed back (to 'pop-up') in the settings menu, under 'New events'.
6) When viewing SMS, some characters/words in the message used to be almost off the end of the line (a 'wraparound' problem, I guess). I haven't seen this so far on the new FW. This is a definite bug fix.
7) When writing SMS, the small box which appears (indicating how many characters remain in each SMS) is coloured purple rather than white.
8] Google Maps and Navigator are both slightly improved/updated.
9) It is believed there may a small change to the 'SIM contacts' menu in the Phonebook.
10) Possible bug - when writing an SMS, pressing '*' with a word highlighted will not always chage it to upper or lower case. It actually does change, just not when highlighted. This could be potentially annoying.
11) Possible bug - there is a clear issue with SE headphone kit.
Things that can help when upgrading to the new firmware:
1) Battery life - Check the new defaults. GPS is always on, Networks are set to GSM/3G, and screen brightness is 100%. Altering these settings will give significantly longer battery life. Mine recharges about every 5-7 days.
2) Check camera settings. Setting quality to 'fine' and 'auto' for some options will give better quality photographs.
3) Request new MMS and WAP settings from your provider if the internet doesn't work at first. (on O2 in the UK, text 'ACTIVE' to 2020)
4) I've seen no major bugs or anything that really doesn't work better than before. If you experience problems like some have on Esato, best to reflash the firmware before customising your phone too much and making do with the faults. The 'charging animation' still works for me, for example.
Things I'd like to see in future firmware updates:
1) An option to save the 'My words' section of the dictionary, and custom SMS templates. I've not found a way to back these up.
2) An improved signal option, even if it is a temporary menu setting that eats battery life - it would be handy in poor signal areas when making calls or sending SMS.
3) An option to turn off the two camera menu buttons at the top of the phone, which I always seem to press by accident
4) An intelligent option to ask if you would like to 'reset settings' if the phone catastrophically crashes - could the phone have an inbuilt 'crash counter' which then gives you a choice of a 'safe mode' on restart (if the phone is going mad with reboots like mine did) so you can retrieve data before a master reset or reflash?
Thanks for the info, this forum is really helpful when reflashing a SE phone!
