What letter do you get when you connect with 3G. All I get is G and E,its bloody slow too:-(.I have an unbranded mocha W890i.
With standard 3G I get a 3G Icon and a "G" left of the reception bar. If it is HSDPA, it shows the blue 3G and an "H" at the reception bars. |

when looking closely at your phone I get the feeling that it isn't a orgininal SonyEricsson at all. With mine there isn't a recessed border around the keypad as is on yours.
At least it definitely has a different housing. Either it is branded or it isn't a SE at all. Where did you get it from?
But if it is an SE: try to use the left / right button, because in the shortcut-menu there should be some tabs at the top to select from...

like Xellar said, its a crystal case to protect the phone that's all. the phone is on orange and i got it direct from them as an upgrade to my w810i. |

Hi, is it true that battery life in this phone is not that good?
I've heard that it needs to be recharged daily with normal use...
Also, is the software stable?
thanks in advance, |

Oh, dude, your operator must have branded your phone. That's not how the activity menu is supposed to look like/work. I suggest you debrand it (via DaVinci, for instance). For info. on how to do it, just search around the forum.
Debrand? you mean with orange written all over it? yeah it has, and it also came with that horrible Orange Homescreen, which fortunately you can turn off under settings (you couldn't on other phones such as nokias). I've never heard of DaVinci. how easy is it to use and has anyone else used it and got good results? |

Battery life is normal. With normal use you can expect 3 days without charging it.
If you disable the 3G network you can expect 4 days without charge. |

Hi, despite what you may have heard and what BUFFBOY says, the battery life is far from average, i get 5 days out of it, and thats with using games and talking to people, in-between charges. i do not use 3g, and bluetooth is turned off unless i need it. i keep my phone on all the time and always let the phone die before charging. |

Is it? I've had mine for a week now and only had to charge it twice. I'm sure as I reach the 5 charge cycle it will probably only have to be charged once a week.
Regarding the light sensor. It seems to get brighter if its bright and darker when its dark?
shouldn't it get brighter when its dark and darker when its bright that would make more sense no? |

I'd be surprised if the battery life was poor as I'd have thought it would be pretty similar to the W880i and that was usually a good performer, also I believe the screen completely shuts down on standby. |

Thank you all for your replies, i asked because at gsmarena's W890 forum, there are people complaining about it, i'm glad it's not true, because i'm waiting the phone to arrive, to buy it, since i like the design and features... can't wait to use Walkman 3.0, since i currently own a W710 which is Walkman 1.0....
By the way, have anyone used the Sense Me feature?, how good is it?
Thanks again! |

I didnt want to install any extra sony programs, so instead have opted for syncing using windows media player. this means i lose the "sense me" functionality, which to be honest is a bit of a gimmick. it would be better if you could add sense me information in the form of a playlist or something.
Its interesting you ask about the walkman feature. whilst i am a big fan of these walkman phones (i dont give a crap about the camera on it) i am slightly cautious over their upgrade of walkman player. walkman 1.0 was simple, and intuitive to use. however it was limited with no support for album covers etc. you can now select album cover art, but to be honest, i cant see much difference between v2.0 and v3.0! i'm disappointed that you cannot maximise the visualisations with the walkman player (so it becomes full screen) and i find my walkman runs a bit slow sometimes quickly changing tracks or changing settings (eg equalizer) or navigating the phone while playing music. i think the walkman is a case of if it aint broke dont fix it.
Having said all this, v3.0 is more in line with sony's standalone walkmans (eg my 4GB A816) and this can only be a good thing. a walkman that is also a phone? great: its lightweight construction, its desirable aesthetics and its high performance music playing capabilities (warning - use via earphones only!) rate this the best walkman phone so far.
dont have one? why not!? go get one |

I need to recharge my phone two times a week. I have 3G switched on and occasionally use bluetooth when needed. I regularly use the web-browser and email client, talk about 30 minutes a day, write some SMS. I also listen to music for about 1 hour.
That's what I would call "moderate use".
By the way: I leave the phone ON during the night. I could extend battery time by switching it off, but I'm too lazy...
Those complaining about battery time: maybe you didn't charge it the correct way the first 5 times (very important). Or you got a bad battery - that might happen sometimes.
I'm very pleased with battery time given the small size of the phone. |
