yeah my phone is also 05W20, but i have blur...
and also, i think i'll send my phone in later, just like what numb said. actually, after you get yours back with the new camera module (if they give it to you)... tell us if there's still blur... because i'll probably end up sending it in (if i do) probably in like 3-6 months... |

Well, the only reason I sent it in was that when the first 7 days have passed, I don't have any right to get the entire phone replaced with a new one anyway. So why not try - especially since service shops here aren't allowed to repair k750i yet - they have to be repaired by SE themselves, meaning too long a wait.
Also, the replacement might just be from the latest batch, since it's SE themselves replacing it - which means some production issues might have been fixed. If I waited just until Monday returning it, they'd repair it rather than replace the entire thing - and besides, I can always send it in for repair later on if a replacement doesn't help Nothing lost (except for 10 working days without the new phone wonder). |

But bear in mind that the camera module is manufactured by some other company, not by SE. They may have received a batch of bad quality camera modules from their supplier and did not notice the problem until it was too late (even suppliers can have glitches in their quality control).

Its possible yes, that the lense might be of poorer quality, but i dont think its possible the actual positioning of the lense should be different in phones.
These things are manufactured so that theres no room for such varied movement, everything is screwed down in the same place on all phones. I dont see how SE could make the mistake of some phones being majorly different in their hardware to others.

Etaab:
nowadays that doesnŽt happen. I had two SE K700 of first series that had dead pixel in the sensor, A LOT visible. The one I have now is OK.
Some people with 6630 of first series had dead pixel in screen and A LOT of dark corners (lousy lens). After that 6630 was ok but nothing special... only some months ago 6630 received good lens.
6680...another lousy camera target. (Some) First units had a lot of dark corners.
Quality control SUCKS in most brands, some years ago, when a model last 1.5 - 2 years (or more) was unthinkable to get a firmware that crashed 4-5 times a day (like most K750 with R1A). In 2005 we have lots of examples (6680, K750, ...) that crashed when released.
The question is: what are they doing?
The answer is: selling everything...good and bad...weŽll fix that later.
The good news is: our microwave and refrigerator still donŽt update firmware which means brands have to release good-firmware-on-release.

oh so you're getting a replacement and not a repair? that's pretty cool, i hope you get a clearer camera module...
one thing though, if i were to go to hong kong, and see a Sony Ericsson Service Center, could I take my K750i in there and get repairs done? Because I don't think we have any service centers here in USA near me. So if i wanted to get a repair i'd have to send it to SE. |

I seem to get blur only on this area of image (outlined by red line). It's very odd.
Is this a hardware or software problem, or is it simply dirty lens?
I tried cleaning the lens but that gives nothing. |

@NevilleX
Welcome to the club;)
I have the blurry part too. I think I'll wait till SE have fixed the major problems with this phone and then take it to a service center and have them change the camera-lens while I am watching. I'd like to see how they take this thing apart. I know they have the lens as a part allready but those might be as the one I have or worse. |

Yeah, as I mentioned earlier, the SE call center told me that SE has a 7 day "unwrapping guarantee" issued to the retailer on all their products, which turned out to mean, that if the phone turned out to have a defect within the first 7 days after buying, it would be replaced, not repaired.
I'm not sure if that's a global policy, or just in Denmark. In any event, it seems pretty much noone but SE and the service shops here know anything about it - not even the retailer, until I showed him the email I got from SE.
Anyone without blur want to state their week of manufacture? Would be nice with an overview of weeks of manufacture, both for cameras with and without blur to see if there's a pattern there (so I and anyone else knows if you should tell them to send the phone back again if it's week 19 or 20 ) |
