What the...? ANOTHER new leak in less then a day. (translated from japanese with chrome) "...According to the information leak, SonyMobile under development for the next flagship smartphone, code-named "Sirius", it appears to correspond to the terminal. It is said that the prospect of bezel width is reduced, display size is widened, to be released in March 2014 in the Japanese market. Model number or would correspond to the "SO-03F" if all goes well. It was previously rumored " Xperia Z2 me it seems that those with at the terminal. " Let's wait and look forward to further news..."

it's pretty clear now. MWC announcement. March-April release.
sony took criticism of the bezel seriously it seems.
huiyi info of 5.2 inch seems to be true.

^Let's hope their source isn't called Nodarsixar

+ one vote for ninja's dreamphone, even though I'd go with more megapixels tue to better zooming capabilities.
Galaxy S4 (S600)
Looking forward to the Sony Xperia Z4 (or 5)

@DexterMoser
Yeah i hope so too.
but seriously, the info is reported on many Japanese sites. seems reliable. the news from other site:
"...Development code name of the first half of 2014 flagship model is "Xperia Sirius". The screen is expected to slightly larger than the "Xperia Z1", but it has been bezel around the screen become narrower. Note that this is consistent with a significant portion of the information that was previously described with the exception of the code name..."

with that said, anyone in need of a phone who wants premium sony phone shouldn't hold it's wallet i think. it's probably about 4 months until worldwide release.

Thats great news out of Japan, I am excited to see what they come up with.

http://cvp.com/images/uploaded/sensor_table.gif (Sensor Size Comparison)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tkh5eWECgbU (Global Shutter/Analog Memory + Sheild)

http://www.micron.com/about/n[....]-samples-of-hybrid-memory-cube (Hybrid Memory Cube ... Still WAY to large for a mobile device, however power consumption should be appropriate, micron/intel have work still to do, I can wait till HMC 2.0 is drafted though this one was a swing for the fences)

The reason I preferred the smaller number of MPx was due to these limitations of the current available tech. Larger sensor, smaller number of pixels, mean larger individual pixel area ('more light' more or less). Plus as covered in the video you see that the shielded analog memory allows for greater noise reduction. Couple that with a hugely wide aperture lens with a larger sensor than whats on the Z1 could lend itself very well to excellent shots all around. I do agree with the zooming aspect of the higher MPx though so it was a personal trade off.. Just sharing the rationalization behind the choice. We may get TWO of the things that I wanted 2K; which is expected from sammy, I dont personally expect sony to fall behind on this front by sticking with 1080p. However they need to use JDI or stop funding them because whoever they use to source currently are giving them perceptual fits, when compared to other devices... considering sonys position and history in displays. Additionally the narrower bezel is welcome news. They were the ones to make a point of it with the ZL and then ran in the other direction completely.. so how much bezel we lose is up in the air (if accurate).

Z1f = Z1s ? Wasnt Z1s the updated version of Z1? Now, I am confused... Seems like the new policy of sony is working
PS. The possibility of a 6.4" Tablet seems great

@Maia
About Ubunto OS in a flagship phone.. Is it a XR3 or XR4?

@Xajel I don't see anything wrong with using Ubuntu for their high end providing that they can sideload all Android apps and run them without any problems. The beauty of Ubuntu is that you can run it as a desktop computer just by plugging it into a larger monitor. The ability to run apps from other OS is just epic, assuming that everything works properly. Basically Ubuntu is a full fledge workstation OS with a mobile and desktop UI. Imagine the things you can do with an Ubuntu phone provided that the specs are high enough! Good example, steam is moving towards linux, imagine running all your games from steam on your phone!

If it was just about apps then you will see BB10 has much larger usage.. BB10 support Android apps, even though it doesn't come with Google services... but Google services isn't the main point here but it's a big plus, see how Nook and Kindle was selling compared to BB10...

Android get it reputation because of it's openness and flexibility... even before having all these apps... this what make Nook and Kindle a success compared to BB10...

Ubuntu is open I know, but will it be as open as Android ?, being able to run all Android apps is a big plus of course (Assuming not having any compatibility issues with popular apps, specialty apps will have compatibility issues for sure as the two are different OS after all)... but the openness and flexibility is bigger reasons to make Ubuntu competitive... Ubuntu is not meant to cancel Android.. it's meant to live with it at least in the time being... maybe later if it success enough then it will be a real competitive to Android...

The best for me is a dual approach solution, dual boot or even both OS running in the same time ( Visualization ? Read Sony read )... ASUS is doing good with their PadPhone, but they need to explore more options ( like docking and more options ) and of course multiple vendor options with standard solutions...

Does anybody know how is Xperia Z1 selling? Is it in line with expectations? LG G2 has sold around 2.3mil units which is way below their expectation.
Will there be OLED TVs in 2014 or probably CES?

@XperiaCute
I think that sony will probably introduce triluminos and x reality like they did with the Z1 and hopefully also new features like lower power consumption. i bet on 2k in 2015.

If I had to guess next year's XTZ1 specs:

10.1 inch 1080p to iPad Air's resolution. Triluminous with IZGO and X Reality, IPS screen (Is that combo even physically possible?)
S805 processor
3 Gb of RAM
8 Mp rear facing camera with new lens/sensor tech (1080p)
2.2 to 3 Mp front facing wide angle camera (1080p)
NFC, Bluetooth 4.1 (if available for production by time).
32 and 64 Gb versions. White and Black versions for each + MicroSD up to 64 Gb
LTE version with 32 Gb
6000 mAh battery
7 mm thin (tops), 450 to 500g (tops)
IP58 certification, headphone jack uncovered
Pencil support (just like Z Ultra)
Stereo speakers

If it is like that, it will be a killer.
I don't get people. Never Have, never will.

^ IZGO(I KNOW IT'S IGZO) and IPS?
That's not a problem.
The IZGO(HERE THE SAME) technology can be used in every type of display, be it LCD (IPS, SuperLCD.....) and OLED-Displays.
The only difference there is that Indium gallium zinc oxide replaces amorphous silicon.

Or it least it should be like that, I'm not any expert.

Thx Xajel
