Spent the early evening watching a glorious sunset over the ocean, then had a call from my mom. Turns out a distant relative, who knows that i collect coins, unearthed a box of coins left by her late hubby, and sent them along to me, since i did her a few good turns on the two occasions when she was in PE. I double-checked the catalogue price on one of those sets which she sent, called the most knowledgeable dealer in the country to confirm, then called her to tell her what i'd discovered... It's priced at R400k, folks! Heaven knows how much more a collector would pay, since only 16 such sets were minted in 1926. I'm encouraging her to have the dealer sell it for her, since it'll assure her that her last few years on this planet will be spent in relative comfort. She wants me to keep the rest of the box though, some pretty rare pieces in there

It's a really pleasant, sunny October day here, almost unseasonal, although we had crap weather over the past 2 days.
I've just finished mowing the lawn and doing other domestic duties around the place; now I can chill before we head off to braai with our usual friends at our old place in Beckton, east London.
Didn't do too much last night; watched a DVD and nearly fell asleeep in front of the TV.. was quite knackered after a hectic, long-hours week at work.

I'm hosting my buddy's bachelor party tonight; he and my cuz are tying the knot next weekend. At 14h00 the temp in the shade was a cool 37°! Let's hope that next weekend isn't as hot, since i'm the bestman, and the Krypsta ain't no fan of such extreme temperatures.

@ kryptic, that is cool about the coins. Wonder what all my dads old coins are worth. Maybe i will document them sometime and pass the info along. Maybe there are some rare stuff in between there.

Yeah, today was quite hot.Spent most of my day inside. Still doing absolutely nothing. Going to watch some shows on my phone later.

Francois, yep, it's surprising how much collectors are willing to pay for some items. Have a look at http://www.randcoin.co.za/sitemap.asp and http://www.coinshoppe.co.za/ for some online catalogues, which ought to give you an indication of scarce dates and values.

Just got back from the braai. My friend Dale has a telescope and as it was a relatively clear night with full moon, he decided to haul the thing out and observe some lunar landscape details.
Just for kicks, I decided to try and take a few pics with the phone, with the phone's cam lens peering into the telescope's aperture (which can be seen in one of the pics) until a half-decent focus of the Moon appeared.
Both pics were taken with my P900, as I didn't have the 3230 with me, so I really wasn't expecting much, but some detail of the Moon surface's nuances was at least picked up; I'm just sorry that I never had a better camera-equipped phone with me...methinks upgrade time is nearer than what I originally planned...!

Not half bad, Wanqa, those pix came out rather well!

Bachelor party ended without incident, thank heavens. I put the groom and company to bed a few hours ago, slightly the worse for wear. They call it the "water of life", but judging from the snoring emanating from inside it's a misnomer!

I spent the rest of the evening (morning?) reading, and right now i'm watching a glorious sunrise with a mug of coffee in my hand. Looks like another scorcher over here, mense. Gotta haul out the sunblock. To think, i shaved the noggin just two days ago, ek gaan mos lekker bak!

Finally convinced my phone that it CAN upload images to Esato

Nice pic there of the Red Label...always wondered why you never posted pics...on my phone I simply go to the full html version of esato and upload the usual way since my phone can be considered a computer according to Nokia's marketing hype.

Whenever i tried to upload via Netfront or Opera Symbian i'd get error messages, using both Esato Lite and full html. Finally discovered that if i uploaded to the full html version from my phone's browser, of all things, it would go thru as smoothly as could be! Wonders will never cease!

Any comment on the rugby, folks? Twas nail-biting here yesterday, if i had any hair i would've pulled it out by the handful...

@da krypsta: As a closet WP support I'm quite down this morning, actually I had an early evening last night...cooked some dinner for myself and a friend...mind you the weather was quite gloomy- it still is.

EDIT: I'm just looking at that pic of the Johnny Walker again and have to say it's quite nice...you might want to upload it to the Photo section.
