Are these problems we're experiencing on the gsm networks a prelude to 3G launch, or have they made enough money from the Nigerian market that they no longer care what their subscribers think? Funny, but it seems NCC has gone to sleep. what happened to the days of the peoples parliament moderated by Ernest himself?

A big hello to everyone in the house.Been out of circu for long and looking for a moderate phone.Longing for:a smart phone, 2mp camera atleast,fm radio,3G(HSPDA),plus d standard hi- end pack.
Felt P990 was okay but Mamba has shaken my conviction.What's really wrong with this phone,anyone?And what's the price.Can one get a neat but fairly used N93?I miss that phone so much.My price range?Not more than 55k

@Ifedisky: My objective opinion is that the P990i is a very good choice (especially at the current prices). You will need to do one thing though: upgrade the firmware to the latest version. This will give you an up-to-date device with a very stable firmware and good performance. Its problem was firmware instability; but the latest firmware has been receiving cheers from hitherto frustrated users.

If you have a PC (laptop preferable), generatings set, and fast internet access, you can do the firmware update yourself. I updated my E61's firmware at home sometime ago, and it was smooth.

I've been reading some positive posts from people that have updated to the latest firmware and i guess if it's really true that the firmware is now rock solid as they say, I might just decide to try the p990 again. I'll wait for the price to drop further before buying the device, and also to make sure that it's really stable now. i wonde why it had to take a year for SE engineers to fix their problem.

@ifedisky: The P990i is available for N55k at Fleet Communications, Ikoyi (branch at Yaba as well). You may find it for less at Computer Village.

Yes, the P990i is probably about 20-30% smaller (my rough estimate; not a certain figure) than the P910i screen. As for comparison with N93, I have absolutely no idea.

The resolution of N93 and P990i are the same: 240x320 pixels but the screen size of the P990i is bigger, 41x56 mm as against 36x48 mm.

Seems like MTN has more realistic BlackBerry Connect rates than Glomobile. They are charging a maximum of N6,000 monthly for what Glomobile is charging N10,000. And it is open to prepaid and postpaid subscribers. Another monopoly broken.

Guys, with the P990 now being stable running on the latest firmware, I don't think the price will drop, well not before the P1i hits the markets.
@Brym: The N6k/N5k being charged by MTN includes 10mb of data download within a given month. I don't think GLO offers the same. I stand corrected.

I got a 1GB miniSD for my device from BuyRight for N3k six weeks ago. 512mb and 256mb sell for less than N2k now.

@pxthomas:Noticed some of those fake phones in Onitsha and people do indeed buy them.Went window shopping for N95 and ended up seeing a phone that doesn't have any semblance to it at all.When I pointed this out, the girl on the front desk told me what I'm seeing is the Mp4 version!Admittedly,the phone looked good but I didn't bother to check if the feel is good in tow.But one thing's sure,people are buying!
@when is 3g launching on any of the networks?Think I'm due a p990 THEN!
Dying in silence here in Onitsha at the moment.Celtel refuses to give me GPRS settings and Glo is wonky.They keep telling me the service is suspended and this's killing me.Help!!

So, I am posting this from an N95 but I am not that impressed after all. Add a qwerty keypad to it and it would have been the Ultimate device. I got it for my boss this morning @ Slot Phones for N88.5k . Now that's one big price crash. Though, it still sells for N125k @ the Nokia Store located @ The Palms.
Now the other features...
