With a sensor that massive, having 12 or 13 megapixels would be amazing. Hell, 8 megapixel would take HTC One's ultrapixels, beat it at its own game in terms of pixel size AND have a higher resolution. |

I like the talk about the flash being 10x brighter than standard smartphone flashes. Hope it's xenon (or equivelant) as it'll be the icing on the cake after the kickass sensor and lens combo. |

If someone knows what Sony's next move is please let me know...I have eyes on A58 and A77... Sony also said they want to outshine Nikon and Canon in 2014... |

All they need to do is keep the pixels size around 2.0 microns, and they have a winner. The N8 is at 1.75 microns @ 12Mpix ..so that gives you an idea. The size of the sensor is perfect for a mobile phone.. the will probably be a small hump, but if they can blend it in nicely with the body, it won't matter.
The lens is very important as well.. I hope they can put together a good camera pack, and if they do.. that will be the first proper camera phone running Android. It took Sony(Ericsson) about 4 ears (post Satio), but they might finally deliver more than just marketing talk.
And still.. no matter what they do, it won't be able to match the 808 in terms of flexibility and overall image IQ, but they can get close enough to where it won't matter that much. |

Currently they are looking at 8-13 mp resolution, so
@8mp it will have 2.5 Microns, which will be the highest on any phone ever
@12.13 it will be about 2.0 Microns, same as HTC One.

if 16-20mp bcum 1.4 microns? 13mp is ideal for detailed images...

No. At 20 MP - 1.5 microns.
At 16 MP - 1.65 microns
At 13 MP - 1.96 microns
At 12 MP - 2.02 microns
At 8 MP - 2.48 microns
20 MP is out of question and 16 mp as well almost. So it will be between 8-13

RX100 and Nikon V1's ISO test proves the otherwise
ISO 100
RX100
Nikon J1
ISO 1600
Sony RX100
Nikon J1
I could show you more IQ comparisons but I think it won't matter.
If you ask me what Sony needs to do is to instead fix their JPEG engine and introduce RAW shooting as this issue remains Sony's weak spot even in their DSLT/NEX lineup.

True, they can opt for a Zeiss Alpha glass or a Minolta G but I think the latter is used only for telephoto which it excels at.
If Honami's sensor would use the company's patented in-sensor Phase Detection AF, they should be the first and only camera phone with fast AF performance that no one in the smartphone world could ever match.

True. Recent Sony CAMERA (not smartphone) sensors have disproved the belief that higher the pixel size the better.
