i am sitting in a planning session...just quickly out to make a few calls....

this day is turning for the worst...the sun is shining, the birds are chirping (takes a shoe and throws it at one, hitting the CEO of the company instead) Oh dear, I need some rain again....

My signal keeps bumming out...I reseated my sim card, and it has been fine since, but still, it is annoying.

My K700 switches off whenever I recieve a call. The light stops working randomly. The phone switches off for no reason then won't start up until I've removed and replaced the battery. i did a master reset. Still the same. i probably need to get a firmware. Or even get a new battery.

But my upgrade is only a week away. And I need it!

Argh!

I hate contracts. I hope I'll be able to just ingore the upgrade when the time comes.

There's been a lot of things. At some point I upgraded my package to talk 120 then later I wanted to degrade, they told me that I have to pay some good amount of rands. But they didn't refunded anything when I was upgrading the package.

I just don't understand this.

TeenInvader: I used to feel the same way about contracts until I calculated how much I spent on PAYG. Sometimes contracts can be quite complicated, read the fine print and hassle them if you're still not happy...I'm on the phone ASAP to companies if I ever get crappy service. If they( I assume Vodacom) are giving bad service you should let their big bosses know about it...check out www.hellopeter.com if you feel like venting.

EDIT: @786KBR: Broer, I checked out that mini-review by Aware and have to say I'm pretty impressed by the W850...ok, I've never been a fan of anything slider-ish but this one looks quite solid. One feature I like about the phone though is TrackID, hold the phone next to a radio while music is playing and it will recognise the track...Now tell me how brilliant is that?

Had a brief look at the W850i (in black) and a purple/white W710i at the local CPW store during my lunch hour.
I really like the look of the W710i, but it's a really chubby handset; certainly no slim RAZR or Samsung Ultra Edition by a long shot.

I'm gonna be nit-picky and say that I really wish that SE had included autofocus with the W850. (a lot has been discussed about this on esato already.)I enjoy taking pics when visiting new places etc. and find this omission a real shame...I don't understand how the W800i and W810i can have, but not this latest Walkman incarnation. ( I don't see it as a budget Walkman phone like the W550i or W300i...)

Eish ja, at least we made it thru Monday, folks... Two short little days then it's Friday

Brix, hope you made it out of that queue with your sanity intact. Ever since the post offices have been handed some of the Traffic Dept's responsibilities the long queues have decreased significantly down here.

@da krypsta: I made it out of the traffic department after two-and-a-half hours...Generally the people working there are courteous but they are under-staffed...Everyone thought these problems would be sorted when we voted Helen Zille as mayor.

"Thank you for getting in touch with Virgin Mobile. We aim to deal with
all your queries at breakneck speeds.

With regard to your query, it is being sold at selected Edgars, jet and
CAN stores. Unfortunately I don't have a list of the stores at this
point but what I suggest is that you can contact the one of the stores
and find out which stores have that special. R55.00 with R50.00 airtime
is quite a deal!"

I got this from the VM customer care line. Please not e spelling, and the fact that nowhere in the ad does it say "selected" stores.

As for contracts... I love mine (for the most part). If I get tired of my upgrade handset I have room to buy another one. No problem. But I won't go buying a handset as a standard.

But when you do your upgrade, you can choose whatever package you want to be on for free!

@Brix thanks for reminding me... the K800 supposed to have that feature!!

Edit:
According to Gsmarena

3.15 MP, 2048x1536 pixels, autofocus, video(QCIF), xenon flash; secondary video call VGA camera
- Java MIDP 2.0
- RDS FM radio
- MP3/AAC/MPEG4 player
- TrackID music recognition
- T9
- Image viewer
- Picture editor
- Picture blogging
- Organiser
- Built-in handsfree
- Voice memo/dial

I hope Vodafone didnt remove it!!

Hey doc,
Good to have you around here again. I'm trying to imagine how much the media in India must be covering the build-up of the highly anticipated Champions Trophy.
I see that India are facing those Convicts in yellow ODI attire in Group A...
