Tbh, i dont care if the K750 does have that much noise in the night pictures.

I've never been a fan of taking pictures in the dark. Seems a bit pointless to me.

The picture I posted is not mine, is from "rog" in mobile-review forum.

He was kind enough to take some shots with the latest K750i available and that "latest" had nothing to do with previous K750i shots (which makes me think if some werenīt taken with standalone digital cameras, as itīs possible to change EXIF info with software) - it showed lens distortion and the noise I showed here in darkest situations.

I hope production models improve a lot this situation but, from what I see from my K700, Iīm still ceptic.

@Ares: you keep talking about S700... buy one. By the way, does S700 have an option to turn off "noise reduction"? I never saw that option and I donīt think K750 have it either.

I donīt want PC software to improve artificially, I want good pictures, noise-free (at least as competion offer) straight from the phone. If I go spend (a lot) of money in a new phone, at least I want to get rid of K700īs "Night-Curse".

Basically, I donīt want to see a 1.3MP Nokia take better pictures (day or night, regarding sharpness, colors and noise) than my brand new 2MP SE. If it does, I have to wait or search elsewhere.

@etaab: when it does at night, it probably does in daylight deepest shadows.

Why would anyone, apart from the manufacturer of the phone (to sell more) want to fake EXIF headers, and make the pictures look like they were taken with the K750 when really they came from a proper camera ?

Especially from a site such as M-R.com. It doesnt make sense.

Do you think SE (and others) only pays for the "official" marketing?

Of course Iīm not saying that itīs the case with M-R and I truly hope we get cameras that shoot so well as we have seen. But of course that, knowing how far brands can go and observing such difference in pictures from different people (and these last coming from "almost production" model), I would lie if some ideas didnīt cross my mind.

Iīm still wishing that SE doesnīt screw up this time as they did with K700 sensors, "night shot" speaking... I hope a few months from now we come here to share our great 2MP pictures from different countries and citys

@rmcris, youīre tired of knowing that all SE camera phones have a "night mode", like most digital cameras...and it can be turned off

But, we all know in phones like t610 or even k700 the night mode is useless, and it even produces more noise than the normal mode

But in the s700 it isnīt so...night mode really activates a noise reduction routine, that works!!!! And yes, like in k700, you can turn off night mode (logical)

Now,

1 - k750 is newer than s700

2 - k750 also has night mode

3 - Eldarīs night photos show clearly noise reduction effects

4 - Rog night photo doesnīt show it

5 - Someone at MR forum asked Rog to take another photo with night mode on

6 - rog almost 100% sure he didnīt use night mode on that photo

6 - Hence, night mode must have been off in that photo

So, i REALLY donīt understand your type of arguments...looks you deliberately "forget" some already known aspects...

1- Itīs RMCRYS
2- Who said anything about "night mode" on/off? (which is nothing more than ISO increase) I was talking about "noise reduction" in low light conditions as digital cameras do above 1/15 or 1/30 speed.

does? I just see less noise, nothing that proves any process has been done

You see... when you use night mode it INCREASES noise, doesnīt reduce it...

[This is the answer to the previous Ares/Arez post that he has edited and now changed]

(Ares said (besides from the scandal) that -night mode- just slowed down shutter, that it doesnīt changed ISO, that -night mode- DECREASED noise (LOL) and what I previously said was wrong.)

Night Mode, not only increases ISO to itīs maximum (thatīs why it has so much noise) but also slows down digital shutter (on mobiles).

Noise Reduction

Nokia (and perhaps other brands but is the only one I know more details), after taking a picture process it by filters and do a kind of "noiseware". From what you said, S700 does it to. On some (few) mobiles and mostly on digital cameras, at slow speeds, camera takes 2 shots => 1st - the picture 2nd - the same settings of the 1st but with the shutter closed to see the sensors noise. Then is done like an average (1st - 2nd) = final picture with noise subtracted.

I wonīt debate more with you because itīs obvious that you really donīt know about this issue (taking in account what he previously said and deleted after)

So you reckon, maybe not with M-R, but with other sites SE pay them to post pictures that the phone cannot produce ?

I dont think so, because it would be completely false and would make SE look stupid in the long run.

There would be nothing to gain from it - the K750 sales will still be high.

For little money, a lot of marketing is made long before the release.

Look at us, have you seen such anxiety for a mobile like this from other brands? Such non-official publicity (pre-release reviews, photos, foruns, videos, Q&A)? Even Nokia doesnīt have such fans...

But there is no need to argue, different ideas

Sure rmcrys, i can understand them wanting to market the phone as much as possible, but i really cannot see a company like SE marketing the K750 as something it isnt..

The pictures we've seen taken by the phone i believe, theres no reason not to. Technology is always advancing.

In the broad scheme of things, the fans on this forum are only a tiny fraction of the entire amount of people who will buy the K750. I wouldnt say i want the K750 because of the way it has been advertised, but because i know what to expect from the phone with experience of using my K700i and S700i. I know it'll be worth buying, i dont need to be brainwashed by clever PR to make me part with my cash.
