Well, seeing as the phone's a little messed already I thought I'd have a go at Jailbreaking it in the hope that this possibly sorts out the wi-fi issue.

But even after successfully jailbreaking wi-fi is still greyed out

I took it down to the apple store and saw a "genius" who in no certain terms told me to get on my bike!!!

I'm a little peed off at myself now for getting this phone now

I've just done some googling and this seems to have been happening to people since the early days.

Unfortunately most that I have read have been hardware faults which were then replaced by Apple

Thanks Masseur for doing that mate.

I done the same and am a bit gutted now

I guess I can always try to send it back to Apple Italy. But it'll cost for sending and plus I'll be without the phone for some time.

Oh, now that I've jailbroken, can I still Restore the phone to it's factory settings? Or will I have to Un-Jailbreak first?

@DragonEye, are you referring to Insomnia as the multitasking app? The one thats available in Cydia and allows apps (non-app store) to continue running in the background after you've hit the home button...

Also whats the forward SMS app that you mention!?

i think irealsms is the best sms replacement app

I haven't found any apps that can do sky remote record from the iPhone yet, except by navigating to the web page where you can click to record just as you would on a pc. The ones that sky do provide are java so none of those would work.

Unfortunately because of the way sky have that web page setup so you can pan around the program listings while maintaining the top and side bars means that it doesn't look too great on the iPhone

update on this. TV Plus has now become available on the app store for an introductory price of £2.99 and this include remote record capability

I'm just giving it a try now

Nice one Masseur. Let us know how you find it.

I'm going to download it when I get home tonight (as I have no wi-fi access so have to download it off my Mac!!!).

Oh, and apprently, according to an Apple Genius I saw yesterday, App Store can only be accessed via Wi-Fi. But I'm sure some of you boys are accessing it via your internet on the phone. Is that correct?

... and this guy calls himself a "Genius"!!!

He was totally adamant that App Store couldn't be accessed via internet on the handset!

For MMS he's gonna need to jailbreak it first and then dl an app called SwirlyMMS. Obviously he'll also need to have MMS provisioned on his account...shouldn't be a prob if he's on a non-iphone tariff

The settings for internet etc should be put in: Setting > General > Network > Cellular Data Network.... then APN: mobile.o2.co.uk, username: o2wap, password: password

Oh man!!! Just when I got used to living with no wifi I have another problem!!!

Now my phone wont wake from sleep when there's an incoming call!

I tried calling my iPhone from my landline. It would ring but the iphone won't ring or wake up... it wont even vibrate.

But when I wake it I see the missed call!

I've tried resetting it and all that but again no luck

HELP PLEASE

unfortunately that was another issue that came up alot when I was researching your wifi issue

again, the only solution I read was a replacement

just check the obvious though, that you don't have vibrate turned off AND have Ring turned off too
