Been following this thread with interest..
Got severe problems with this handset..
I get constant "This phone has been restarted to improve performance" at completely random times.. happened this morning when phone was in top pocket, keypad locked, not having even touched it for a couple of hours!

I have the following releases on my handset:
Phone R5A006
BT:R4F01
Org:R3A04
CDA:R2A04

Now, it seems that these numbers dont correlate to the suposed latest firmware.. yet when I run the SEUS, I get the message that Im running the latest firmware, and that the phone doesnt need updating..

Ive ditched it for the moment and gone back to my P910..Ive reisntalled the SEUS, as the site says the latet version is 2.6.4.9, whereas when I actually run it on my machine, the About.. states that its version 2.6.10.5, so yet another mismatch..

Any pointers people?

@CallLater

as others have mentioned

- software bugs means corruption of data
- corrupted data means random behaviour

I suggest you reflash (don't restore a back-up), back-up, Master Reset and then Restore. This should return you P990 to 'clean' state. A Master Reset is needed as the reflash does not clearout all UIQ caches etc.

EDIT: also invest in Swiss Manager Pro which is to be released tomorrow

Hi Jah,
I a have a feeling even with a new firmware update that particular line is likely to be a long one at the SE stand. What i am dyeing to know is their response as it needs to be a good one. I only have two questions why so little Ram? and wheres it alll gone whilst running apps?

Yup, I zapped the handset and did a master reset last week... did the update even though ut stated I didnt need to..

Cant help but feel that its a matter of luck as to whether your handset works or doesnt..

Even tough at the end of all the checks SEUS states you have the latest FW version, you could stiil choose to continue with the upgrade. Give it a try and see if the numbers change. [addsig]

I think SE purposely hold the release until the phone is officially launched by all the phone carriers next week. This way, the phone will recieve more attention towards the carriers than the small retailers out there. Anticipation always sells more phones. A lot of people are waiting to purchase the phone from the carriers rather than retail outlets for more stability. settings for O2, 3, orange, vodaphones are all diferent, these carriers and SE has to sort out to make sure the new FW works on all the carrier networks before releasing the official FW and the phone through the carriers.
