Sorry _LAU_; my apologies as I didnt see the emoticon. Im an old dog when it comes to sms/mms/online posting as emoticons are still hard for my eyes to pick out. Glad you put it there.

Is anyone here that has a specific NEED; not just a want like myself, but a true need for running their business that they gotta use on this device?

ok im a big fan of the 900 series, currently on a p910i, and i cant fault it one bit i can edit my websites on the fly no matter which country im in, and its got everything a guy could need!, what i particurly like is the fact the keypad is detachable and gives me a better deal with the extra screen space!!, the 990 does not seem to have this feature, and the look of it with a keypad and a detachably querty keypad looks horrible, and the loss of screen space? what gives?, i think i will stick with the p910i, and the hell with 3G.

Get some free advert space for 6 months!, got a modile ph site? a website!.

Yes, I asked specifically for the P990 in the subject of the mail and the text you see, and I also found weird the double-confirmation.

That's why I added the

well... there is a rumour thread for the one without flip...

P970 == P990 without keyboard, and shorter. sounds much more promising!

so maybe!

I basically just wanted to bump this thread up, but I was also wondering if anyone has any insight into why SE switched the location of the stylus from the right side to the left. I'm sure it will be easy to get used to, but I've never used or seen a device with the stylus on the left. Just curious as to whether there is any logic or if that was the only place where there was room...

I'm baffled by this as well. My guess is that it's a design blunder. I can't think of a rhyme or reason. One has to reach across the face of the phone to grab the stylus. Being that the majority of the world's population is right handed I can't fathom who they intended to cater to. I'm a lefty so it won't be a big deal for me. On the otherhand, I'm used to familiarity and I've learned to use it right handed ever since the release of the P800. It's even more amusing how I never thought about this or looked at the pictures closely untill you guys brought this up. I wonder if the currently published reviews mentioned this at all.

A quick test is to simply hold your current Pxxx with your right hand and reach across for the stylus. I'm sure you will fumble at this a few times. You'll find that it's not practical because you will always have to tilt the phone at a 45 deg angle to whip out the stylus. If you keep the phone steady this time and try again, you'll feel the awkwardness in your wrist as it cocks above the phone. The only way to minimize this nuissance is to hold the phone opposite of the stylus. But then again, that would mean current right-handed stylus wielders will have to learn how to use the P990 lefty if they want to avoid these problems.

I can't understand why they would make it to suit a left-handed person since they are trying to make it appealing to the majority of people (who are right-handed). But even so, it doesn't suit a left-handed person either because the jog dial is on the left, so it is best to use your left thumb on that. It's just strange...

And I have another question...I don't know much about 3G since I'm on T-Mobile here in the US. So I was wondering what kind of battery life the P990 will have for me. If there is no 2100 band available, will the phone have a longer battery life than if it was using 3G? Basically, will the phone always be searching for 3G coverage and use power for that, or will it realize there is no 3G band available, and thus maintain longer battery life? Thanks.

i think its because if people are right handed, they'll need their right hand to write with the stylus.
