@wazuki...they'll probably be series 80/90.ive got my eyes on these beauties,but wont be gettin one for a while as i've just ordered a 7710.se are destined to doom now.

Indeed. Its time we get almost same good phones as japan does. Maybe its time for se to release their japanese phones here in europe

I think nokia is more aware of the fact that the hdd is more prone to damage than us and the n91 surely must have a shock protection like ibm laptops for hdd.Hd technology has gone far till now

the only consolation we get is that these phones are ugly IMO. N90's design concept is great but overall design is crap. N70 is just a rehashed 6*** something. But i'm really impressed with N90's screen 352x416 and CZ lens (but i reckon it requires substantial thickness, which explains the lateral orientation).
MAY THIS BE A WARNING TO S.E. STOP BEING COMPLACENT! YOU SHOULD HAVE PUT THE QVGA SCREEN AND MPEG RECORDER ON THE K750! IT'S TIME TO UP THE ANTE!

had the same reaction when i saw the line up at symbian.com. i hope there would be an SE rivaling these phones. UIQ.3.....c'mon....SE!! I haven't lost faith in SE, but I LOVE the N90. |

The next SE smart phones are no match to Nokia smart phones. Why, because Nokia is the biggest shareholder of Symbian OS and Nokia has the cream of the crops of Symbian applications for their entire use. SE has to be contented with second class Symbian. So there is no way for SE to compete Nokia with Symbian OS. So I reckon that phones using Window Mobile 2005, Magneto, are more scary to SE than Nokia phones. And in the end, SE will come to the conclusion that if you can't fight them, join them. Then we will se SE phones using Window Mobile 2005 hitting markets around the world ! |

i really like the N90 and N91 (N70 is nothing new). the features are outstanding. i don't care for the moving parts though (the camera piece and the sliding pad). that's pretty much my only comment until i read "when" and "how much"! |

I wanted to say it yesterday but it was too late and I fell asleep.
First about design. I’m a web design and from my point of view N90\91\70 is nothing special. Just normal design, to say more, N70 and N91 look ugly on real photos, only rendered or professionally made photos make them look good. N90 is a little bit better but the keyboard is one hundred percents cloned from Motorola, and again – nothing special. I can admit that the perfect phone doesn’t exist. But there are almost perfect phones, for example – Vertu (the only thing I do respect Nokia for). As for design KDDI-AU - PENCK is a real masterpiece of beauty. And the reason why I hate nokia is that nokia has a great opportunity to make a groundbreaking phones, but they don’t, ever their luxurious series for example 8800 sucks (pardon me)…
Second. I do not understand why are you so exited about new N series phones from Nokia? It is just a new generation, it is time to present a new generation so nokia does it, there is nothing special about phones in N series. For example – ZEISS optics is nothing but a few letters written on the phone, created to make you think that it will change something. I have a SONY DSC -F828 a 8MPX digital camera with ZEISS optics and I do know trhat even in the 8MPX camera it is not a ZEISS optics in full meaning, it is just a brand, real ZEISS optics costs thousands and thousands dollars, and DSC -F828 costs 1000$ itself with body and optics. Think about it. There will be no difference in quality of photos from N90 and for example next generation from NEC or Panasonic. If NEC or Panasonic or SE will try to make a good optics.
Finally – “No reasons for excitement”. N series is nothing as long as you do comprehend it as nothing new. The whole concept, positing, any thing else is in your mind, stay calm and see what happens. Why shouldn’t we be exited about Samsung SGH- Z700? 3MPX, dual camera, 3G, bluetooth. N series is just an appropriate answer for its time nothing more, few weeks will pass and other players will give the same announces.
And one more thing, I do choose a phone for myself very carefully, if it turns that I can get a really best phone but for 1500 $ for example probably I will pay, of course I don’t like to waste money like this. The ideas I think many times before getting any, and the phone I do use now is V802SE, it means for today it is almost the best phone… and it is SE. I do not have any blind attachment to brand, of course I’d love to have a phone from B&O…

Hiya ori! I understand you but... Cant you see- we are fascinated by these phones. Besides they are smartphones so there wont be too much competetors from other brands. Hey people is that a joystick on the side of n90? Cool!

I still don't see a reason to panic. SE doesn't have any rivals for the Nseries but does that really matter.
Obviously only the N70 is going to be affordable for most people and it doesn't have anything special, its just a ugly upgrade to the 6680, which beets it for looks.
The only time I would panic is when SE has competing products and they are worse. Since SE doesn't have any non-touchscreen phones yet and we'll have to wait till next year for those, SE isn't going to be competing. And just because they aren't competing with a certain class of phones doesn't meen SE are going to go bankrupt. And say SE would announce a new Sxxx phone with say 3MP, the N90 would turn suddenly into the worste phone on the planet, which I don't think it will be.
To tell the truth I only see the N70 as a strictly phone to sell. The N90 and N91 seem to each have a few new things between which will be better implemented later on. I would think we'd see a N90 in a regular candybar form and I think Nokia would be better off with putting the music controls on the side and gave the N91 a better keyboard.
One thing I doubt is nokia putting anykind of protection for the HDD. IBM only uses it on some of its laptops, and nokia definaitly doesn't manufacture HDD, so its going to depend on their supplier, and I haven't heard of HDD heads protection on 1.8" and 0.8" HDDs, I could be wrong though about protection. Just a thought, if IBM advertises HDD protection as such a big feature, wouldn't nokia announce it on its FIRST HDD phone? |
