@sapibobo. You must have had writers cramp doing all that

May be they have been clever in producing an Autofocus effect electronically. It still does the job from what I can see of the pics.

The S700 has only been around for 6 months or so, an upgrade may be due soon, who knows what may be around the corner.

That's because I was slightly drunk after a pub night at work (we have them once a month). You would not be as impressed by my explanations in sober state.

Hahaha, thanks. I just a long time SE/Ericsson user. Those are just my personal opinion as regular user.

I dont think K750 do Auto Focus electronically at all. But it does 'digitally' for sure. It doesnt support two principal functions needed for Auto Focus.
Use your photoshop, open your S700 image, do sharpness layering (just a tiny bit). It will produce same or even better result than K750.

Yeah, i am still waiting what will they do in next f/w upgrade.

I have a question.

Is the MP3 on the S700 comparable to an IPOD's quality?

gseth, how did you compare that picture taken with the K750, to one taken with a 2mp digital camera ? did you actually go to the place that picture was taken and take the exact same image as what the K750 took ?

Btw REO, the K750 has 262k colour depth.

You are wrong, K750 does not do autofocus in software.
It uses Philips new Fluid Lense system - you can read more about it here:

http://www.phonecontent.com/bm/news/philips/182.shtml

K750 is the first mobilephone to use it, and it puts k750 ahead of all its comparable competitors.

Remember. The megapixel size isn't all that matters...

If the phone is 7 megapixels and the lens is rubbish, then you would rather have a 1 megpapixel if the lens/camera is high quality.

Isnt the S700i more suited for imaging, the lens seems bigger, more refined? Bigger phone too, chance for better camera to be included.

K750 looks BIG, but the quality is still not the best. [addsig]

But it is better than the S700i.

There seems to be an awful lot of S700i fans on this forum who dont seem to want to let go of the "best image quality" crown.

Face it, the S700i's camera is left obsolete by the K750's.

@ numb, where did you hear the K750 uses it ?

Well i do not have an iPod before but i have playing with S700 mp3 capability lately.

The overal sound quality is good. You can play with its 5 band equalizer and it works. The stereo is also good plus. Bass is recognisable. Fast forward and rewind is supported, but in 1 second increment, so a bit long to explore the song until the parts that you want to hear. Volume level is good but i think it could be louder, but maybe that is just my ear (i like to almost-maximised volume level oftenly in my PDA or Discman, maybe i lil bit deaf cause my friend told me that S700 is loud enough).

The playlist is suck, neither tag is supported. Only file name listed. You can select to plays randomly or not.
Tips : You have to create a separate folder to store your song or the media player will play all files including your ringtones. Manage your folder first. Use a card reader to create folders and transfer the files to memory card. Forget about IR or bluetooth, even with USB cable it still slow to me.

I think the main drawback lays on its earphone. It doesnt match perfectly with your ear. It has the same design with HPM-10 - old Ericsson MP3 player accessory. I think original Sony earphone or iPod earphone have better technology.
You cannot use other earphone cause its connected with regular Ericsson port. Heck, you cannot even use W800 earphone. Oh and the connector is easily disconnected, especially when you opened the phone for typing. Remember that rubber clip on the botom? That is the main cause. As tip, use the black ear cover suplied with it. It helps sits the earphone comfortably.
Here at Esato someone introduced me a converter to 3.5mm jack. I forget who.

All been said, it still cannot beat the sound quality of Windows Mobile PDA that i have (i think SE could make it a bit louder and more 'surround').

Oh one more thing. This is maybe just me, but i have this small experiment with various song files S700 capable of playing. I tried mp4 (AAC). And i think the stereo sounds better than mp3. I think S700 is designed to play mp4 rather than mp3 with its media player, dont know.
Try converting one of your song to mp4. It sounds better.

DONT convert from wma to mp4 directly. It sound worse, i dont know why. The best result is from CD audio to mp4. The result is smaller (about 40 to 50%) than mp3 file for same bitrate. To me 128 kbps mp3 file is as good as 64 kbps mp4 files. So you can have more files to fit with the stupid-max-128MB non PRO MS Duo card.
Some mp3 songs with low bitrate give worse quality in mp4.

Since you ask this question, makes me wondering even more, whether SE will implement Mega Bass in the next firmware update or not. Another 'software' upgrade that SE force us to upgrade to K750.

@numb : yeah i know about this fluid lens. But can you show me that K750 actually use it? In K750 spec (and other article and reviews i red) nothing mentioned about fluid lenses applied on K750.

That has been my complaint with all SE phones, even the P900.

They do not playback loud enough. Sometimes if i listen to MP3's or the radio on my K700i, in a loud environment i cant hear the music playing even though the earphone is push into my ear.

I hope the K750 and W800 fix this.

Are you serious ?
If I listen to mp3 on my k700 with the standard earphones its impossible for me to stand the level if I turn it all the way up.
Its very loud

It might be my older firmware then.

Only some radio stations play really loud on my K700i, the rest are what i call comfortable listening unless in a noisy place.

@ numb : i red your link. Still do not mention K750 use it. Even at famous reviewer at Mobile Review, Eldar Murtadzin, didnt mention anything about it before.

Dont get me wrong, what i do not like is not that something new will replace S700. Heck, sometimes i prefer the result from my Nokia 6630. Its not like that.

What makes me piss off is that technology is software based. SE try to introduce us with technology that is actualy can be implemented to older models.

Yeah, i agree with etaab. In noisy environment the volume failed to hold its existence. I think the problem also contributed from the earphone too.

no the link does not say that the K750 uses it - because this link points to a general information about the lens technology before it was implemented in the K750.

Still it is used in K750 and you are wrong about the autofocus being purely a softwareupgrade that can be adapted to any model like a simple sharpeninglayer in photoshop, it is not. There's a distinct difference between focus and sharpening, sharpening sharpens the entire image, while focus is applied only to the focalpoint. Another improvement caused by this lens is the quality of the edges of the picture, it isnt darkened like fixed focus lenses. If you examine the pictures you will clearly see the difference.

You can choose to beleive me or not, either is fine by me
