I've just used the Nokia PC Suite that comes with the 6600 of my Father in Law. Well, it sucks!
If you begin a Back-Up session and move the window a bit.. BAM! The connection stops and you have to begin the Back-Up again.
No words for that...
Moreover, you can't share anything through Bluetooth w/o the PC Suite app..
has Quickshare technology and other stuff (FMA for example) that helps the user to feel himself much more confident of the technology...! |

Whats this has to do with 3230?
6600's PC Suite is pretty old and as it can't us SyncML you cant use newer PC Suites with 6600. But 3230 (as all other newer Nokias with syncing option) can use SyncML and so are able to use newer PC Suites. Newest right now is 6.4 which is pretty much stable and also quick. But it isnt anyhow perfect, only much better compared to 6600's PC Suite.
Also I dont know what you mean with BT sharing? Only DRM protected content (like bought music or ringtones) isn't possible to send through BT. But anything else like midis or mp3's from your computer you can send without any problems. And of course photos, txt-notes etc. Only if your network operator has locked these functions then it isn't possible but this isn't Nokias problem! |

@traktori2004:
I'm really glad to know that newer Series60 phones (incl. 3230) do have an improved PC<->phone connectivity; since I've used only the 6600 I didn't know that: I'm sorry for that! O:-)
About the BT sharing, I'm still speak about 6600 only: this phone even unbranded can't share files through BT *unless* by using the *crap* PC Suite we discussed before.. (mostly 'cause not having SyncML)
I'm happy that more recent Series60 phones haven't this problem!

OK, thats fair enough! I'm sorry I was a little bit rough with my responce, but sometimes here you can't get unbiased comments... About 6600 I havent had it for a little time but I do remember being able to send (at least with 3rd party File explorers) files with BT, but this needs confirmation, I have to check someday! |

With the 6600 paired to the PC, among the services that the 6600 offers, there ISN'T the OBEX File Transfer. There is the Serial Port emulation, indeed, plus a little more (audio related..).
The OBEX is needed to offer sharing capabilities between two paired devices AFAIK..
Only by using PC Suite (or other similiar apps), that does use the Serial Port emulation, one can transfer stuff PC<->6600.
That's for sure. :bye: |

Well, I don't use PC Suite and I can transfer stuff between PC and 6600 via BT or IrDa... |

How do you can do that?
I could do so by IrDA and WinXP transfer wizard. For BT (WidComm drivers), since I haven't the OBEX Service available, I couldn't send anything to the cell. The only way available was by PC Suite.
Happy to know that...
