Do u have actual email to back this up? a large number of sources from the various conventions and such over the past couple of months have all said the phone is on schedual. There have also been a large number of demo units lent to reviewers and the like (note the large number of links in this forum to independant reviewers and web masters with actual hands on photos of the phone not in front of any booth. These people would NEVER have been given a phone to play with if it wasnt ready to ship in the specified time frame. can anybody show an example of a hands on review of a product from a reputable company that didnt make its Q relase?)
I am UNBELIEVABLY excited about this phone and will honestly pay up to $800 USD to get one the second it comes out. I am not pre ordering thoguh cus i simply dont trust any place that will sell you something they dont have, before the market sets a price. If anybody knows about programing for symbian uiq or j2me, please drop me a line i would like to get started learning but i dont know where to start.
for those interested: the Symbian UIQ SDK is $995 from SE I tried to get them to send me a free educational version but they would not. I guess my next option is j2me, unfortuantly i do not have 1000 just to spend on codewarrior and the sdk for my mobile. They had there reasons for not sending it to me and they took the time to explain them so i am not bitter, and thinking of it i tihnk j2me may be a better platform (easier distrobution) but i would still like to write programs that coudl acess the phones on board features (MS Duo, camera, etc...)
neway P800 forever!!!!

I think the problem that some people (including myself) are gonna have if this phone come out soon, is the cost and contract of getting the P800.
I got my t68 last December, so if the P800 does come out in August, I'm stuck. I've got just over 3 months left on my t68 contract, before thinking of an upgrade.
What do I do? I'm sure many of you are thinking the same.
Do we splash out on a second handset, thus having 2 contracts to pay per month (makes girlfriend very unhappy)
Or could we try and sell our handsets, and purchase a SIM free version? Expencive.
What other option is there??
Do Sony-Ericsson offer a part exchange deal?
How can I get a P800 when it is released, and not put my relationship on the rocks ??

@georgy, most likely a phone not locked to a particular network or contract.

Let me reassure you that the 7650 has got e-mail,also its got a web browser through a java program called Web Viewer the photo quility is very satisfying, the difference is that the close ups are better on the 7650 and the long distance photos are better on the MCA-20...as for the P800 i think im gonna get it!!

one of my mates bought a 7650 last week.. I'm impressed, it is a very nice phone.. But,it doesn't have MP3 support and doesn't have a memory upgrade function. Plus it isn't backed by Sony.
I think buying it, rather than waiting for the P800 will be jumping the gun.
the idea of a P800i, does scare me. I can't see it being anymore that a software upgrade (can't belive we're actually talking about this already). 3G will be too much of a big jump to warent a 'i' type upgrade.
When 3G does come out, it will cause a big push forward in mobiles. It's a bigger jump forward than anything we've already seen MMS, colour screens, WAP. 3G means video phones... 2001 here we come
I hope that I will be able to pick up a p800 for about £100 with contract. Every time i have bought a phone in the past, I've always got a great money deal. nokia 7110 was Free from egg.com credit cards, t68 was £40 from the Link, mainly because the phone shop opposite was doing a 50% off everything so they had to beat it .
I'm expecting a similar thing to happen with the p800.

am waiting for the P800 also! those who choose something else must not have understood the specs they read. i dont know why they compare the 7650 with P800 (removable/expandable memory storage, MP3, java, triple-band, stylus or keypad capable, bluetooth, etc) .
i got my t68m earlier. when the t68i and the new software came out it was downloaded to my t68m, free of charge. so i never experienced any hassle, and no trouble with it until now. the P800 is really an open ended device, just like a PC (meaning: any upgrade/new software is downloadable. the removable media is also the backup.) |

it would be nice to know if Sony-Ericsson have taken the step to remove any need for service upgrades. Making all the future flash upgrades be possible by an internet download or somthing similar. Especially with the memory stick, you could dump all required data on a memory stick, then flash upgrade the phone.
if the p800 is basically a PDA mini PC, then it's always been possible to flash them from home, without the need to send the thing off.
This is funny, talking about upgrading a phone that isn't actually out yet
Does any know if the front flip keypad is just a simple plastic device that presses the touch screen? |
