I just orderd a T28 cable for debranding my k700.
I'm wondering if I can also use this cable for upgrading my fone with the latest firmware from the officion SE site . Or does that only work with a dss-20/25? |

You could try it if you like to find out for sure though, i 'think' even if it messes it up you can still recover by re-flashing. There may be a slim chance that if you have version R2A already on your phone that when you run the decustomisation it may possibly still work? dunno just guessing cos the decustomisation file=R2A i believe.

at a guess i'd say the decustomisation file wipes the phones firmware, if you update firmware it doesnt lose operator images etc so to just upgrade you would still have the pictures, screensavers etc. So i reakon the first bit wipes the phone and then you put the new version on. |

EMEA is Europe, Middle East & Asia
EU is European Union
Almost all language packs have English in them, so if you don't care what other languages your phone has you can use most of the language packs. Check the following table:

Okay, after reading this topic, what combination of firmware and language packs will allow the camera shutter sound to be muted like the old R2A0041 firmware?
I have a Vodafone K700i branded with R2V001, so would be interested in anyone has tried to do this at all. |

The status of performing the updates with a DSS-20 seems a bit unclear at the moment. If you read the www.totalserver.net site it says
"USB Cables like Fighter USB cables, DSS-20 or DSS-25 Original SonyEricsson USB Devices (drivers supplied by cable developer) these cables were tested by our team however we do not guarantee DSS-xx cable support"
So it appears that somehow its possible to use a DSS-20 but no-one seems to know how. According to iamcrunchie definite support for the DSS-20 and 25 is coming soon.

I just bought a credit - cheap enough. When I click "Info" or try to browse the download area though, it fails with "Unable to connect to server!".
I have no firewall s/w etc., so is it just down? Or something else? |

@jmbillings - I have the same problem and I can't see the server status anywhere on totalserver.net.

Server appears to be down again as I can't connect to it either. Just have to wait and try later...

Just had the following reply from Face Off Mobiles Support about the confusion over using the DSS-20 with Total Multiserver v1.24

Right its completed but we hav to word it right
As we said FTDI based SonyEricsosn USB cables are supported
DSS-2x is a FTDI based SE BUT cable
BUT support for the DSS-20 is not 100% and we can not guarantee it will
work we have successfully tested it but many hve not been able to use it
At this time we only recommend using the cable we sell
Regards Face Off Mobiles

Does that make it clearer?!!
I'm not sure what an FTDI based cable is, but I just ordered one of their cables to be on the safe side.

I just have a thought I want to put out to you all. I remember something (not sure if it was true) that after a while Sony Ericsson blocked de-branded P900's from being able to use the online update service.
Two Questions:
A) Is this true
B) If so, are we all about to take the unecessary risk of not being able to use the update service in the future
Regards
