So i think i've kinda figured out the network info and cell events but now i can't think of many good uses for it. it's so cool there's gotta be some practical uses. what does everybody use it for? |

Ohhh.... please install SMan into drive C:... but, the autostart will still be deployed in drive D: for all UIQ devices except Motorola A92x... they need it on C:...
Funny... I installed a chinese font, then the chinese SMS displayed correctly... however, you may have installed a traditional font and the SMS was in simplified or something.... use one called STKaiTi.ttf... it's 12MB in size but has both simplified and traditional in one TTF file...

@chyeoh:
The anti-alias will only work with TrueType Fonts (.TTF files), the built in .GDR files have no effect...

I have just updated our site with the build 200 which fixes all known bugs found in the previous SMan v1.3 build. Also, added French and Spanish versions.

Something else: could you guys, do something about sendings files? I mean it'd be very usefull to see a status of the beamed file. Something like when sending pictures, or some percentage, or time remaining. It'd be real usefull |

you get a percentage bar on the p900 screen when sending anything anyway? |

not when you use sman.

I speak for P800, although I guess P900 is the same from this point of view: I go to "pictures" folder. I view a picture, and choose to send it. When the other push "accept", I see a status bar, and percent above that bar. That's really usefull, cause I know how much I have to wait. |

there's actually another thread somewhere in this forums where i explain why sman doesn't have the progress bar when beaming files (bluetooth or irda). i'll attempt to explain it again!
the built-in classes that are used by all other apps i've seen so far (including the built-in apps on the phone) will pop-up a dialog box that has a progress bar. unfortunately, these built-in classes have a thing i don't like: in order for you to beam a file across, you must first make a copy of the file in C: drive (under the mail folder if i recall correctly). this presents 2 problems:
1) if you don't have enough disk space on C: to make a copy, you will not be able to beam your file. you can test this easily.
2) if your file is big, you have to wait a loooooooooooong time before the beaming starts because of the disk i/o overhead of copying the file.
sman overcomes these by using slightly lower-level APIs and classes for doing file beaming. so, beaming starts faster in sman and you don't have the disk space limitation.
the drawback is these APIs do not have any publicly available progress information at all. SE *may* have functions built into these lower-level APIs for monitoring progress. if they do, they haven't documented them at all. |

thank you for details, i'm happy with sman as it is, and you are right with the c drive.
and thank you for the filesearch module. And network too... Hmmmmm, a little request, is possible to enter a bigger text in the blujack message? now is pretty limited...

Any ideas of practical uses for the Cell Events? I know how to make it work, I just don't know for what reason. |

what would you like to be reminded of when you enter or leave a particular area? some uses i've seen:
1) someone had a homer simpson saying something about beer when he steps into the pub
2) someone had a warning sound played when he drives near a speed-trap zone
3) someone had a wake-up sound played when he reaches a particular train station (it's a long journey and he sleeps....)
4) record your own voicenote then get sman to play this back as a reminder such as when you reach home, you could get it to play "Remember to do the laundry!"
use your imagination. |
