it will almost certainly be in the ballpark of the p900 price when it was released, that is the normal thing for successive phones

Seems to me like this phone is what the P900 should have been in the first place - finally, a really worthwhile functional update to the P800. PRO support alone makes it well worth the upgrade, and greatly superior to the P900 too.
P900 owners - bad luck - you jumped the gun.

I've read through this discussion and I have to say that I am not all that impressed with the P910 as an upgrade for P900 users, but I can see the attraction it would hold for P800 users or those who don't own a smartphone at all.
Owning a P900 myself I shall not be upgrading, I don't see any real need to, it doesn't have any features that I need, want perhaps, but not need. I shall be content to wait for the P1000 to be released.
For those of you with a P800 I would imagine that this would be a good option for an upgrade unless you can wait for the P1000.
I don't think SE have done that bad a job with the P910, it is certainly unattractive to P900 users, but for those still to buy their first smartphone or those wishing to upgrade from older models it does present some very good features, notably the increased memory capacity and the support for larger memory sticks. Admittedly I would have thought that SE would have addressed some of the many issues that have been identified with the P900 since its release, perhaps they have and we just haven't heard about them yet, I certainly hope so at any rate.
All together this isn't a bad product, I can understand why P900 owners might feel a little cheated, but at the end of the day we shall have our chance with the P1000. I'm not so sure if I like the general SE policy of releasing upgraded versions of their products though e.g. T610/T630, P800/P900/P910, perhaps they started as they meant to go on with the T68/T68i?

well i love it, both design-wise and feature-wise
and i don't know why are you guys complaining
they have corrected all the flaws of the original, man considering that you wan't a revolution every six months then i guess you shouldn't be a fan of pda's considering they don't have cameras and they have the sam old 240*320 65k screen for about three years now, lol, i mean you guys are never satisfied.... for it's the best thing that could happen, memory, sync, email, internet and keyboard the only sad thing is it doesn't have wi-fi so you can't use it in your home network but ok i could live with bt....

Certainly a very good device, but still doesnt justify moving from a P900!
I had the same idea upon the conversion from a P800 (which I sold a few months back) to a P900 (now owned) coz I was convinced that the P900 didnt have any mistake carried forward from its predessesor.
The P910 is a VERY impressive device, but honestly, I see the P900 much sexier and sleek! Despite the sturdy look of the P910!
The 262k and the 1GB expansion is gonna wait until accompanied by a megapixel camera, (in the P1000 hopefully) then certainly I would buy one so it can be the TOTAL UPGRADE!!
Besides, my P900 is only two weeks old
Good one SE....

I just have one thing to say:
F*ck you SE
Couldnt they just updated the P900 with almost all the new things, and sold the qwerty flip on the side?
Or atleast give the P900 buyers a discount or something? Because of this I think I will change to a motorola A1000(which looks even better)

I like it!
I don't know yet if I'll swap my P900 for one until we get the price.
U shouldn't complain at this model, nobody is forced to buy it & as some1 said earlier it is only like car manufacturers offering different engines in the same model.
The upgrades are good but I think it should have 1MP cam.
As I never use the flip I don't know if the keyboard is much use to me & also I have no Duo Pros...... yet
I wonder if the handwriting recognition has improved to let u write words & sentences instead of just letters?
PS I wish people would stop saying it's a business phone! How many P900 owners on here would class themselves as a 'Businessman'?! I know I wouldn't. It's a phone for anyone who wants it.

Well it is aimed at the business community, how many average mobile phone users need to view Word documents whilst on a train? I'm not sure why so many people seem to be so hostile towards SE for this upgrade, they are still releasing the P1000 so this isn't a replacement for the P900, and no one will be forced to buy it.
One could moan about the T630 being released when it isn't all that much better than the T610, but again what is there to moan about?
Look forward to the P1000.

A part of me understands why certain P900 owners might feel "cheated" with the release of the P910. I felt the same way when the T630 came out, even though I had had the T610 for a while. In childish anger and rage, I dismissed the T630 as worthless,a waste of time, and have held on to a site, while I waited for the genuine replacement. I felt vindicated when the T610 won the GSM award for best device, etc etc. The K700 almost convinced me to move on, but the 32MB memory "concerned" me. I think P900 owners should wait for the P1000 (or whatever it will be called). I on the other hand, together with most P800 owners and other smartphone aspirant owners SHOULD rush to get the P910. It's near perfect:
-1GB support!
-QWERTY keyboard
-64MB built in memory
-32MB "free" memory card
-more colours!
I could go on. Lets congragulate SE on a job well done and stop whinning about this and that. It's truly a remarkable phone.
I am getting mine though, only if by the time it is available the GENUINE T610 replacement is not out or rumoured to be.
If it is to be it is up to me! |

indeed people did moan about the T630 not being that much better than the T610 and like people here are saying the P910 is what the P900 should have been they also said the K700 is what the T610 should have been
its hard to please some people some time
personally, the more I read through the specs and look at the pics the more I can't wait to try out and do an indepth review of the P910

I will admit that I would like to have a P910, but quite frankly I don't need it so I won't bother, it certainly isn't a case of sour grapes. It will be interesting to see in the days and weeks ahead if SE has learned from previous mistakes when we are able to read more in depth reviews of the P910.

i actually believe this is a good update, i seem to remember a similar discussion to this when the p900 was released not long ago, but now most people here have got one.
i suppose there is gonna be an influx of people trying to convert their p900 to a p910 now like there was with the p800.

is not forcing anyone to buy the P910. Just like no one forced me to buy the P900 when it came out only 6 months after I got the P800. So I didn't buy it. If SE doesn't release new phones often, people complain that SE isn't doing anything new... when they release phones... people complain that they release them too soon and want a discount.
For those that want an "upgrade path", sell your P900 and buy the P910. Whatever upgrade path could offer, you'd get a much better deal selling your P900 now.
I'm happy with the P910... they could've made it a bit thinner though... That's always been my gripe with the P-series... they're just way too fat. 20mm should be the THICKEST it should be, maybe 22 with the flip.
They got the K500 down to 14mm! The P910 should've just been 20mm... but I guess manufacturing the same case, and all will allow to price the P910 at the same cost as the P900 when it first came out. Even with the 18-bit screen, Duo Pro, and additional memory.
