obviously, the K700 wasn't designed for people who need to have every aspect of their life on a phone. and obviously I'm not one of those people. I can't fill 40mb of memory in a single day. I can wait a day, heck a week before I'd need to transfer files to my PC.
before you bring up the MP3 thing again, I'm going to repeat that the K700 was not designed as an MP3 player substitute. the ability to play MP3s was put in the phone for ringtones.
Look at it this way:
*small phone
*great screen resolution
*great UI
*40 MB on board memory
*can play MP3s as ringtones
*decent built-in camera for MMS
THIS PHONE ROCKS
as opposed to:
*MP3 player with no external memory
*0.3MP digital camera
*oh yeah... there's a built-in phone
This phone sucks

well said swipe. but dun u find it a waste to not to use the k700 as a mp3 player since it has a stereo output and a media equiliser?
i prefer SE....i love it's UI and the built quality. the screen of my 6230 got scrathed (deeply) when i placed it in my pocket with my keys for a day. my t68 which was treated the same way for a year or so looked a lot better. i guess the 6230 can't survive without a pouch under my 'care'. haha. |

I think SE did this because they really wanted to push S700 as their multi-media phone: stereo, memstick, MP3 player, 1.3MP camera. |

Are you sure S700 will be supported with MS ?? as I thought K700 would have MS, but I was wrong. Which MS will they put, duo or duo pro ? As we know MS duo only 128 mb max. But MS duo pro can be 512 mb.
For anyone who don't think this size matters, try to imagine K700 with 512 mb for storage instead of 41mb.
With my P900 I don't have to bring my ipod, voice recorder, digital camera, and my tablet pc anywhere. For anyone who don't think the features matters. I can explain in long detail how important this can be.

I don't understand what you're trying to established here, Gunn.
Everyone uses the phone differently. Some use more features than other, some use less storage space than other. That's precisely why they make different models with different features to serve different market segments.
The keyword here is 'different.'
And if you have all the needs for those features, you should be happy that SE made the P-900. There are plenty of others who are perfectly happy with their K700, T610/630, or whichever 'lesser' phones they've chosen.
The new SE phones may suck to you, and thanks for sharing. Personally, I don't really care what others think as long as I'm happy with my phone.

Yes I'm sure. Haven't you read S700 discussion? for that matter, there are already numerous photos of the S700 showing the Memstick slot and the memstick in it.
The k700 was never supposed to have memstick and SE made this clear from the beginning.
Please do some reasearch before you make all emcompassing comment like "New SE sucks."

as you have done the research, tell me which MS will they put in S700 ??
I think my messages is clear enough. I expected SE would lead for phone maker. By merger of two big companies as Sony and Ericsson, they should beat Nokia away.
But their new phones lacks some good features.

Theirīs only one reason for SE not to include 1,3 Mpixel cam, a screen with 16-bit coluor, memcard, touch screen, elictric tooth brush and so on and itīs the battery time!! All features drains the battery, this is one of the reasons SE is so great, they donīt do like motorola, LG, samsung, nokia and put lots of new stuff in a phone and then beeing "generous" and give you 2 batteries and a ciggcharger.
I think SE is doing right to wait until you can have a use for everything you got in your phone. |

SE confirmed that their latest phones suck by releasing new P910 without many improvements.
Instead of new phone, why they don't make upgradable hardware for P900 such as replacement of keypad in P900 and upgrade MS duo ?
WTF with the screen ?? 65.000 is enough. Instead of it, improve the cam so we can take picture of white board meeting with zoom and high resolution cam. Or add WIFI connection. Why not also to make P900 rotate the screen for easy Excell file reading ??
I think SE has researcher block.
And I am very disappointed with them.

Now that they've given you an upgrade, you whine about it. Why not be SE's researcher then. Add everything you want, customise your own phone. You want EVERYTHING inside a phone, then you'll be disappointed in SE, and not just SE, all the other phone manufacturers. Lets ask SE to include a time machine in their phone too.
Dude, its a PHONE after all.

Gunn, it is plain that the only reason you decided to post your somewhat unjustified remarks is to cause an argument. What you have to remember is that a phone is a phone, not an all-purpose electronic swiss army knife. I've had my fair share of phones in the past from all manufacturers. If you want an MP3 player, get a proper one just as you'd go buy a gameboy if you wanted a handheld console. How can you expect a mobile phone to do everything? What amuses me is that you argue that Sony Ericsson lack innovation, yet I don't see Nokia releasing innovative phones weekly. If you want to call changing the look of the phone and slapping the same useless screen and software innovative, then fair enough. Nokia has its strong points (can't beat T9 on a Nokia for example) but I think SE's advantages far outweigh Nokia's for what I want in a mobile phone. Truth is I'd have no use for a memory card to go with my Z600, nor would I if I had a K700, it's a mobile phone and not a multimedia jukebox. You say you don't have a Nokia yet you keep saying that they are better, so why don't you have one? Sell your SE and get a Nokia, and we'll all count the time it takes you to regret it. People like you really do my head in, it's bad for Esato and it's why I rarely post on here. |

@virtualtears, I disagree with your initial comments. The remarks from gunn are his opinion and we won't be suppressing peoples opinion (within reason) here on Esato. When another members opinion differs from yours it doesn't have to cause an argument, but instead it creates a discussion which is what you have nicely done (for the most part) in the rest of your post.
regarding your swiss army knife comment, while its clear that individual devices which have specific purposes will always out perform a multi function device I have to say that I do prefer multi function devices as I like to carry as little as possible. So if tweak something here and something there to make that one device better than it was they will always get my vote
I can understand people being upset with incremental upgrades rather than whole new devices with all sorts of new technology in them, but if the incremental approach (and cost) does not feit your style or budget then you need not buy that new device
I think there is some ego involved here too when an upgraded device becomes available. I'm sure that we all want the latest and greatest and when a company release a new upgraded device it "feels" like our old device is obsolete but of course thats far from the truth
I have to agree partly with your last comment. If gunn feels so strongly about this issue he should consider something other than but I do suspect that there is no perfect manufacturer out there but currently is the best of the bunch

I must confess that I agree with most peoples arguments about the P910 being a somewhat lame upgrade. The 256k screen for instance is unnecessary and will only lead to colour complications when downloading older p900 software. Now I'm no memory stick expert but I find it hard to believe that the 128 mem limit could not have been fixed with a software update (If Im wrong I apologise!)and dont tell me the p900 cant support the new qwerty flip because all you need to fix that is provide a software patch with the unit. 1 question, does this mean that problems with the p900 will now be ignored while s/e pay all their attention to the new p910?
