siemens says a closure of the mobile division would destroy a lot of value, thus that option has so far been ruled out. imho it would also be a disaster for siemens if they cease operations and still release the 75-series. many would surely doubt the presence of an aftersales service. |

i guess you're right. much like what happened to philips a couple years back. when they closed down their mobile division, consumer trust plummeted on them and when they tried returning, they had a very difficult time because consumers don't trust them anymore. the consumers are afraid that they'd get abandoned once more when sales of their units are'nt what thay expected. i do hope that siemens does'nt abandon their mobile division. even though they're the obvious underdogs, their quality and uniquness will alwaya be their endearing traits. good luck to siemens. |

cat's out of the bag, so to speak. siemens' mobile division has been bought by the chinese. BenQ to be precise. wonder what would happen? will it be another asian-european contender much like what happened to sony ericsson? will the brand be still around or will BenQ totally replace it with their own? well i guess it's kind of sad, really. siemens is such a nice brand. it was just underpinned by weak marketing. in other news, i hear that alcatel and TCL has also fused, SE style.will this be the trend for the forthcoming decade? |

@miss uk- Nice fone! I had this Siemens SL 65, it's a very compact fone, though limited internal memory and has no radio. It has a VGA camera which captures images a BIT sharper than that of the K700i. How I wish I never sold this model fone

@miss uk - nice phone. you could use it as an emergency/alternative line like what i did with my t610 now that my k7's back in action. maybe you could get a prepaid line of a different network. or give it to someone in need. or better still, now that siemens is no longer a "pure" unit, pre-BenQ models can be considered as collectibles much like the original ericsson phones. post it on e-bay. |

I have two siemens phones a S55 and a SL55. Very lovely phones I must say, but I wonder what the new Benq-siemens range would offer. The new designs look attractive and the specs are ok. I guess we'll just have to wait.
This one I like, its called the P51
This one too, its the EF81

well, just have to wait and see what BenQSiemens would bring when it comes to durability and stability. Most of first batches of most brands are not bug free. Give or take let's say 3 months and will see it from there. For now, i will stick to my siemens m35i. It is still working up to now, no hang ups, rubber seals are still intact, 3 days standby time with li-ion battery. Come to think of it, SE and most brands just come and go ( say 3 - 6 months) and I sell it. Only 2 brands lasted with me for the average of 2.5 years: Siemens c35i / Siemens m35i and Alcatel One touch selected series.
For now, I am keeping my m35i. |
