Actually BT is one of my major problems.... And there is no way for me to do it without the operator releasing a new firmware? |

If my phone is branded by Fido (despite it being unlocked), how do I unbrand it so I can install the latest firmware upgrades?
thanks

even if you unbrand it the sony ericsson update service checks your IMEI during the online upgrade process and apparantly now knows from that which operator your phone came from and will not allow the update if the operator has not approved it, which they won't have otherwise you would have an update available now

@Tribolet,
You can change your Sunrise firmware to a neutral but only via a Service Point SE.
That doesn't help you for online update but after that you have the last firmware.
My web site can help you ton find Service Point in Switzerland.

Hi,
I'm also having the same problem with the new firmware. I'm in the LA area (where t-mobile and cingular share towers), and after this update my phone constantly shows "Cingular" on the phone even though I have a T-mobile SIM in the phone. Up until the upgrade, it showed "T-mobile." I'm not sure if this is fixable (at least until the next firmware). I don't think I can restore my phone to the previous firmware either. Any thoughts???

I just got my P900 yesterday, and the first thing I did was upgrade my firmware. the upgrade seems to be successful, and now my CDA162003/6 organizer version is R5B02. But ever since after I did the upgrade, I notice that the network indicator are stuck on cingular (I am now a T-mobile customer). Before the upgrade the T-mobile brand will appear as I use my new T-mobile SIM card.
I tried going into "control panel" and under "connection" tab, go into "GSM network" option. from there I tried selecting network, but T-mobile was not an option, be it manual mode or auto mode. I guess I can re-flash the firmware again, but please let me know if you guys know anything about this, thanks.

@kitt9000: okay, glad to know that I am not the only one having this problem. I have been using it for a day now, and besides the cingular branding every thing else seems to be on t-mobile (voicemail, customer service). But still I have always thought that the brand is the indication of who's network you are on, and I sure don't want to be charge roaming when I know I have options. |

I am currently holding on this upgrade! Does not seam worth doing at this time. I think that you peolple who have a fully working phones should keep in mind that it is not always an upgrade will help your phone or ad new features. So, if you dont have a problem with your phone today, leave it!
If there is a major change like a compability with ms duo pro ore simular, you will here about it. I am sure!
Cheers

I have also noticed th play pause button with gif images dont know if this was there before or not and i love the battery on this thing now seems to be just lastin longer and longer now. Can people please stop talkin about unbranded and branded phones. I think most of us just wanna find out the changes with this firmware. So open a new thread for why your phone is branded. Thanx

Ok for this remark for minor release, but the Organizer version (the operating system of the P900) change from R4 to R5 and this meens a major change.
The only real problem is the lack of information from Sony concerning this release's features |

R5B breaks voice dialing with my HBH-200 Bluetooth headset. Other folks are complaining that it changes the contacts database so some data elements are presented in the wrong fields (fax number in the URL field, etc.).
If you use an HBH-200 with your P900, avoid this release.

Nevermind, it works just fine. I forgot that updating erases the stored voice tags, and even if you restore you need to record them again. Shame on me...
No other problems here, contacts etc. look fine! |
