Once having read this thread I thought I would call orange just to see if there was any truth to the problems with the chargers.

They say at the moment they have cancelled the T610 on upgrade and Pay monthly/pay as you go. Yet they are not recalling any of the sold phones.
The women told me that it is a problem with a recent batch of chargers. When I asked if they are dangerous, she replied that they are just faulty.

I would also like to thank every one at this site, for the useful info you have provided me with.
You have helped me make the decisions on what mobiles to buy for my last two mobiles (T68i, T610). As I have been following Esato for a year now.

From 'The Orange List'

Quote:

Next week Sony Ericsson will announce a recall of certain chargers, the faulty ones say "Made in Thailand by Delta" on them. I think it's the small type of charger only which is affected. However full details and what to do will be announced next week and there will be advertising to support this.

Mine's made in thailand by delta and has been acting strange lately, charging, not charging etc. My brothers morroco charges works fine tho. I won't be leaving it in at night anymore. The contacts seen inferior to my brothers also.

Well I just went into my local Orange shop to see what to do with my faulty/exchangeable T610.

Since they didn't have any and (in my opinion) they have no viable alternative - they said my only choice was to cancel my upgrade and go bac to my old phone. Unfortunately I have disposed of my old T68 so this was not an option.

So I phoned Orange CS and managed to get them to extend my exchange period to 6 months!.

BUT the CS agent said that SOnyEricsson had recalled the phones - NOT orange.

Phoned SOnyEricsson and the denied it.

SO go figure!

This all seems very strange. What about other networks, have they had similar instructions?

Three years??? The phone has just been out for about 2 yrs.

The chargers I got with the T610 & T68m are slightly different.

T68m
INPUT:100-240VAC~150mA 50-60Hz
OUTPUT:5.1V - 450mA
Made in Morocco by ST

Long story. HBH-10 charger uses the same as T68m. HBH-10 charger is now 3 year old. I am still using the same

Just a passing thought. Someone in Orange to try to push up Nokia stock market share price before disposing it or perhaps try to clear old Nokia phone stocks in Orange

Will shops be able to replace just the charger or will they want the whole unit back? I doubt they'll have anymore T300's with cameras left, the offer stopped a month ago.

If they say the problem lies in the charger, of course you would never give them your phone if they cannot replace it!

T610 uses the same charger as far back as Ericsson T28 & Ericsson HBH-10. I guess 3 years back. There are plenty of the same charger around.
