No difference if you use cable or IrDA. You can send melodies, themes, ringtones, logos with both connection types.

OK, more detail this time. I have a T68m (hoping to get the 'i' firmware soon), firmware R2B013. I have a Dell desktop with one serial port, so it'd be hard to look in the wrong place for the phone. That computer runs Win2k, sp2 I think. I first installed the 'ImageEditor' application, which included the mobile phone monitor app. No phone detected.

Then I installed package 2. No phone detected.

Installed package 4. No phone detected.

I see a pattern here. The help system for the phone book app says there's a trobleshooting application, but I don't see it.

Has anyone else seen this problem?

Thanks.

The phone book app (I think; that's what I run to get to it) shows the com port as enabled and not reserved. I have used the com port to set up a firewall and an 802.11b access point, and to sync a couple of Palms, so I know it works.

The phone monitor puts up a dialog that says "No HSCSD devices present!" when it starts, and almost everything is greyed out. How do I tell the phone monitor to look at COM1?

Is it possible that my cable is DOA?

Thanks!

@faster,are you sure it's the Phone Monitor Options and not Ericsson Mobile Modem Settings that you're looking at?

arnoldc: No, I typed the wrong thing. It's the 'Mobile Modem' control panel that gives me the HCSCD error message. It wouldn't say that if it found the phone at the end of the cable, right? So that's really just another symptom, I think.

Should I give up on the troubleshooting program mentioned in the PBTM help? No one is saying anything about that; has it never existed? Is it useless?

What tools should I use to verify that the cable works, so I can replace it (soon) if it's broken?

Thanks!

xtnd connect seems to have been missing. I ran the package 4 install again and it complained about the fact that Outlook wasn't installed. I installed outlook, then finished the XTND install. Still doesn't see the phone (after rebooting to finish the install). And there's still no troubleshooting app.

I'm probably missing something; the XTND help says there's a dialog to set up the COM port, but I don't see it and the help doesn't say where it is.

I think this was a critical step (thanks!), but I still have no connection.

Gotta a question that may have been answered in the FAQ of Esato.

I have an Ericsson T39m with R4A008 firmware and software.
My Windows XP computer doesnt have an IRDA port on it thus Im left with a serial or USB cable option to synchronize contacts, text messaging, download new ringer tones, and use my trusty T39m as a GPRS modem for my laptop. As stated on this site, the T39m has been successfully tested with the DRS-10 cable. The DRS-11 cable has the DCD (data carrier detect) line. The DRS-11 includes this, aside from using a newer chipset, MAX3386.

Can I use the DRS-11 cable with my Ericsson T-39m successfully and is it USB? Is the DRS-10 USB?

Thanks very much in advance!!

Cheers

So, hyperken, I have to have Outlook to use the phone book app, not just for the XTND Connect stuff? That sucks; I was hoping to delete it after I got the connection working.

But I do have the Outlook, not the Express version. That doesn't seem to be the problem.

Thanks, though!
