yup! i totally agree. somehow i'm connected with extelcom and the gsm plans were scrapped as of end 2002. true. smart and globe are too ganid to share GSM frequency (maybe because theyre afraid of more competition [sun already had their way]) that's why extelcom abandoned the gsm plans.

about extelcom's CDMA2000 plans, still on the way... =)

ohhh! thanks for clearing it all out.. actually, if u'll notice, it's truly a question... it aint stated in the article afterall (that they are abandoning, i'm kind of like asking if they are...) so, since they are ganid nga (globe and smart), extelcom will then persue operating using CDMA2000.. well then... thats great...

really great!
note: there are more CDMA2000 operators than WCDMA operators, so Extelcom really has a good chance on the 3G market.
another note: even EDGE operators are not that much

so give Extelcom a break and give them the chance to run CDMA2000. by the way, the term CELLCARD is really extelcom's trademark. what the hell happened because when people buy smart or globe, they say "pabili ng 'cellcard'..." dont they know they're politically incorrect? hehe =)

@ex_crusader seems you've resurrected this thread. A lot has happened since, and ever since Globe decided to block so-called "unaffiliated" sites from their GPRS/wap service, notably ESATO I've been quite disillusioned with them. Although I still keep my globe postpaid line(still have one year to go with the tie up), I hardly use it anymore(I only consume the free text and alloted voice calls) I'm using Sun cellular now, and I'm quite happy with them so far. Cheers

I always remember Smart advertising with questionble values.
Their 1st major TV commercial (when they tried to change their image) with the song "Ain't no mountain high enough" showed a guy talking on the phone while driving! This is a big NO NO!!!

And now with the addict commercial.
Didn't you notice SMART sponsoring all these rave parties every month / week. I won't be surprised if they sell E there.

They also advertise in FHM with all those kinky downloads.

They just don't have social responsibility... Polluting the minds of the people just for money.

Hello all Filipino correspondents! I was really amazed and elated as well to see Filipinos discuss matters pertaining to the topic, with very much detailed and precised accuracy of knowledge at hand. Most of the time I disregard seeing threads with much of Pinoys discussing in the forums - I might just be disappointed in what I can see and learn sometimes, but I was really maligned by that thought, my apologies. Most of the replies here were very educational to read, I never knew that they have the knowledge (stock) discussing them openly, with matching computations too - is she an accountant by profession? -I forgot her name, but she's damn good !!! Keep up the good discussion, very informative and enlightening as well fellow Filipinos.
I was a SMART subscriber before, but I changed to Globe for a year now, and I am becoming disappointed for switching . . . Globe is very inutile at present, looks like the system is going down the drain, with less ads, promos etc. compared before - but I am giving myself more time, for I know that in the very near future Globe will rise and bacome victorious once more . . .

I'm planning to switch to globe after years with smart, reason is simple, before they gave out there promo with free phone I'm already a subscriber dating it back to their analog days. Anyway, last year of October, I decided to avail their promo because of what semicon did to my phone, it went well no problems so far, so I decided to switch addict from smart gold and now I'm trying to avail of their retention plan and they said that I'm not entitled just because my contract has not ended, I try to reason with them, what's the difference if you have to add another 24 months for the same plan, since I'm paying a higher than my contract amount, with no intention of downgrading the plan. But no they keep on insisting that its a policy, well sad to say its a stupid policy, they can check my account with them and I told them that I never missed a payment and its been like 6 years, I bluntly told them that globe is offering me a plan 1800 or plan 2500 with P900, just an additional of 10,000.00 as opposed to nokia 6600 plus 8500 with smart, I told them even if I have to cut off my line with smart I would be happy to pay 10,000.00 rather than finishing my contract with it would appear it is much cheaper.
Studip marketing scheme for smart, they don't know how to take care of their loyal subscribers.

Funny how we have a smart-bashing thread here and a globe-bashing thread somewhere. People keep switching from one network to another for all sorts of reasons.
