Yep Galaxy S5 does 4K, it's only real flaw now is the 2GB RAM it seems, it's a huge flaw for me, but for the majority? Not so much.
Chipset is indeed S801, there will also be one based on the newly announced Exynos5422.

Probably because they are not done with the phone, the launch date tells me that they still have quite a bit of work to do and due to the fact that they only announced the Exynos chip today, as the days and weeks go by we will then get the info what region gets what variant etc...
They should've unveiled this phone in March at their own event...maybe there's still a suprise in store.

Why not?
Every manufacturer has to believe they're the best.

Oppo who. I have nothing against Chinese people, but I don't trust Chinese companies that are making devices which are capable of monitoring and reporting personal data to a country that is quickly becoming known in the media for technological espionage.
@ Tsepz_GP - yeah the 2gb of ram does seem like a bum deal. But, Samsung aren't stupid, does the S5 need 2gb of ram ? isn't Kit Kat able to run on 512mb of ram devices ?
Maybe Sony need more ram for a more bloated launcher ? New Touchwhiz is supposed to be flatter, simpler and better on resources, apparently.

And you think korean companies are clean, how naive. Wasnt LG got caught on stealing info off your media drive from their smart tv recently. Nothing against any culture here but I never trust any companies. |

For me it is a matter of futureproofing and having a completely better phone than my last. Yep, KitKat is optimized for phones with 512mb RAM, but that's no excuse for Samsung to skimp, this is a flagship, compromises should be minimal.
You know when Nokia began their downward spiral RAM and Internal mem were two major areas where they skimped, I hope the GS5 isn't Samsung's N97.
The GS5's design and majority of it's features are growing on me fast, but the RAM just puts me off, just an extra GB and I'll gladly preorder. It leaves me with a weird feeling, for the 1st time a Galaxy S model falls short of a Galaxy Note model of the previous year, why does the Note 3 have 3GB and S5 2GB? The GS5 has more hardware to power and a more powerful chip that will bring more memory hungry games, it will need more RAM than a S4 or Note 3, I'll bet on that.

I wouldn't worry Samsung fans, I'm sure an S5 will be available next week with 3GB, metal case in two weeks, 805 when it comes etc. It looks like they rushed it to have something out at MWC, why not wait a few months considering their huge loyal fan base who would wait? I wouldn't say the device is bad but more thinking is needed, especially on the back design which is awful - it looks so incredibly cheap and it shouldn't do considering the price. The fingerprint reader being a swipe method looks awkward, should be a simple press like the iPhone. Little things like that ruin the whole experience for what is a flagship for this year. The Note 3 is the way to get it done properly. Usually Samsung raise the bar a little each year which forces the rest to do the same but not this time, less devices and more quality is needed. |

Ditto, we're in the same boat, my network even have a Galaxy S5 page now, but I'm just not convinced, I'm also waiting, if nothing better comes the I'm getting a Note 4, if there is a S5 Prime or Galaxy F OR even a high end Galaxy Mega with the new Exynos, 3GB RAM and higher res display, I'll go for it.
I've entertained the idea of getting an Xperia Z2, then I looked at where the Xperia Z and Z1 are, not even a sign of 4.4 KitKat for them, and the fact that the Z2 will take a backseat in 6months time, and the fact that they only come in 16GB and I quickly shook away that idea, I plan on keeping my next phone as my daily driver for at least 18months as I finish university and go into the job market end of this year/early next year, look for an apartment and possibly relocation if necessary, I will not have as much time to myself and gadgets after this year so whatever I get has to be one hell of a keeper.
