I did lock the Satio to UMTS, but it still stuttered. It seems to freeze up even by simply losing signal, or possibly handing off from one cell to another.
Video bitrate makes no difference. I can play something encoded at super-high quality on iSquint (Mac), downloaded from PlayNow Movies or really low-quality episodes of South Park that are low-res and low-bitrate.

@janke1
You have a more extensive comparation between N86 and Satio in the link below (click on links below each picture for full size) and I don't think Satio is as bad as you claim (perhaps something is wrong with your Satio).

Can anyone tell me whether the Satio Offers the option of receiving "selected calls only" or setting up a list of selected calls to receive or setting the incoming calls to "Contacts only"??
These were really handy features to have on the P990...
Any help appreciated.

@Janke1
You have a dedicated Sato picture thread in the link below to compare with your pictures.

Jmcomms i noticed you mentioned something regarding music fading off or sound going in and out. I had a similar problem with an early c510. It was so strange when my signal fluctuated the sound in the music player headphones would drop in and out. Why?

It's not quite the same problem. I wouldn't expect to see any similarities between a S60 device and A200. Any similar bugs would be purely coincidental.

@ janke1 - this is apparent with many Nokia phones. Nokia phones tend to be better point and shoot cameras for taking quick photos. SE phones tend to have better cameras when you take the time to get the settings just right.
A typical example of this would be recently i went to a law school graduation with my N95 8gb and a K850i. Took pictures on both phones by simply just using auto settings. The Nokia was far better. The SE phone would probably have taken better pictures (especially in the lower light areas) if i had spent time adjusting the white balance, exposure level, flash and other little bits correctly.
Ive had my Satio 10 days now, and the pictures ive noticed get better the more i take the time to get them just right. Unfortunately ive had nothing nice to photograph so the camera is a bit redundant to me at the moment.
@ jmcomms - ive tried listening to mp3 files whilst moving in and out of coverage prior to reading your diagnosis and never noticed any such problem. My problems still exist however - buggy firmware in many areas across the phone. The most annoying at the moment is the web browser closes for no reason sometimes.

I simply love my Satio
The screen is fabulous,the menu is very fluid and I am having lot of fun with it
The only bad points are:
-Should had been stereo speakers instead of a C905 style one
-Some bugs like Wallpaper theme style (all but SE style)
-Camera jpeg compression is about 90% , the photos are between 2-3mb each which is like the 8mp of the W995
I am confident SE will repair most of the bugs and calibrate the Cam driver with some FWs, it's just the speaker which is not powerfull enough

Bit of an update from me, seems like I ages since I opened this thread.
My original prbblems aren't causing me too much pain, battery life has definitely improved gradually.
I now have 1 specific regular problem which is really irritating. No idea what's causing it but basically after a period of time the phone becomes unable to make any sort of online connection. The most obvious impact is the internet just hangs on connecting. Assisted GPS won't work so it struggles to get a lock. Most annoying is that emails aren't getting picked up and this one doesn't error so you don't know that they aren't coming through.
Restarting the phone fixes this but I'm having to do it at least once a day.
Anyone else seen a similar problem ?
Other than this I've a few lock ups and general stability problems, but nothing that surprises me ahead of a first firmware patch. |

I'd also like to know if my phone is possessed, as I'm regularly going to sleep with a decent charge and waking up to see it dead. I have left Gravity running a couple of times (which is set to get updates every 30 minutes by default) but otherwise it's just the phone, standby app, contacts and messaging - and no email being collected during the night.
Of course, because it's switched off, I can't see what it was doing. The only thing it does is an automatic backup at 2am. Perhaps it's crashing (will try a manual backup to see) but it's really not on - and I can't wait for a firmware update to fix all of these issues.
Having looked on SE's own developer forum, I'm shocked how little discussion there is going on about the Satio. Even this forum, other Symbian based ones and our own (What Mobile) forum seems pretty devoid of discussion. It really seems to be a phone that the world has forgotten about - either that or nobody is buying one (yet I've actually seen a few being used by people, which suggests that in the UK at least it IS selling quite well).

Have you tried giving it a full charge, and restarting the phone before you go to bed and leave nothing running ? Ive gone to sleep at night leaving all sorts of things running in the phones memory but wake up the next morning with no significant battery power loss. Maybe what you're leaving running is causing the phone to turn on the screen backlight, and a bug in the firmware keeps it on all night or something ?
@ vegetaleb - see, i said you wouldnt be disappointed

I don't get the point with stereo speakers on a phone. To experience stereo sound you have to hold the phone very close to your face. I guess this is OK if you're lying in bed and keeping the phone on your forehead but you will laughed at if you try the same outdoors.

Last night, I went to bed with a fully charged battery and woke up with what appeared to be fully charged (as in solid green) so here we go; more confusion!
Clearly this is what should happen every night - but isn't the case.
