I still have the upgraded T68M... bought it in November 2001.... Yepz... 1st phone which I had 4 more than a year! Still doing fine, but I'm waiting for the N1 of Neonode (cause SE is still refusing to introduce a new model...)

Well I got my first T68mi back on September 29 of 2002, and I knew I would love it and still do! I liked it so much I bought a T68i for my wife and 1 for my father as well. Hehe I got everyone with this phone now. Oh and I also got 1 of my friends to buy it too. Long Live T68!!! But I would like a replacement to the T68i also, I would love to see this phone with all the same features but with better res screen, poly and java. It will be a truly kick ass thing. |

Got my T68 in Dec 2001 for £80 on contract... it was a great deal which took me a while to secure
I actually think that the P800 is technically a successor to the T68 - if you think back to around the period that I bought mine then it was so new as an idea - a phone that had a colour screen, supported MMS (eventually) and had a reasonable email browser - it was *the* top of the range phone to have.
Now I think the goalposts have been moved slightly, most cheap phones are catching up with the T68 in a lot of ways and I would guess that most of the people who bought T68's around the same time as me are the sort of people that will buy P800's. Mine has been on order for a while now!
In order to replace the 68 it will need to be a radically designed (as it was then) and feature packed (what else could you add that the T68 hasn't got and doesn't require a P800 style interface??) - I think plans for a new T68 would tread on the toes of a P800 a bit too much..
The great thing is we'll all find out soon enough what SE's chosen path will be.. and like all these things, as soon as someone makes an exceptional phone which becomes free on contract (as the 68i is now) it ups the stakes for all the average people who have no idea what bluetooth is, etc. Finally the average phone is something which most of us lot would be / are proud to own |

no no no! the p800 is entirely different beastie, nice for some but big and clumsy for others. where the t68 is a phone that virtually anyone would be happy enough to carry, no matter how little or great use they make of all it's features, the p800 is pda/phone that a large majority of people might admire from afar, but never see as a practical option for them. i like gadgets, but i wouldn't carry one, it's just no use to me.
the t68 is the perfect marriage of usable features and small, comfortable form factor. it's successor (when it comes) must pull off the same trick. |
