@Zed

Of course it is only pointed to

The 9.5 installer seems to modify the bookmarks (on c:) and that's what I meant with 'replaced' - the pointer or link to the homepage in bookmarks.

And I hope that it doesn't have any other effect on the native web browser as I'd like to keep it fully working.

We'll see..

Con
- Mobile optimized websites don't get rendered properly (wrong width), however the user agent is still "mobile" and because of it I can't access some normal websites (automatic referral)

There is a "Mobile View" the same as the Small Screen Rendering used in the Old Opera Mobile build, it destroys page layout to fit it to screen width.

The UA string is actually "Opera Mobi" to avoid this, but a lot of pages pick up on the stuff we couldnt remove, like "Symbian" or "Sony Ericsson"

- Shortcuts are not in place (I'm pressing 2 all the time to get to the bookmarks

Shortcuts are there, they are just proceeded by the hash (pound #) key, so unfortunatly on the p1i it means pressing alt-# alt-2

- Can't find landscape mode, is it there?

We Really REALLY wanted to add landscape mode, but UIQ3 just cant support it, there was one remaining crash which occured while browsing in landscape and recieving a SMS the phone would powercycle. Unfortunatly this issue was completely out of our control so we had to disable landscape

All in all a great beta! If they fix the rendering of mobile websites it would be a perfect browser for mobiles and the missing app for UIQ.

Thanks! Which Rending issues of mobile websites?

----

Those widgets were created by SEMC for the beibei and paris phones and therefore couldnt be released by us

@soulsurfer,

first, iīd like to thank you...your previous info materialized just fine

when can we expect:

flash support, at least for the pluggin that works on opera 8.65

sync with opera desktop

an option to replace ROM version (like PDF+ did)

Regarding landscape mode...if Digia did it properly with @web (works very well an quickly), why canīt you do it???

Also, do you have any indication if SEMC will provide the final version on a firmware update to any of the UIQ3 phones???

Flash support, go to advance settings and enable plugins, it should use the same plugin that uses Opera 8.6

An option to replace the ROM version would probably have to be taken up with SEMC, and they've been very quiet of late (as you can imagine) maybe our public release will shake things up a little

Opera Link support? no idea

Landscape support will of course make it into anything thats released on UIQ3.3 or beyond that unfortunatly this browser was a backport of the 3.3 version and not a build from the ground up like digia's was. UIQ3's support of landscape is just shocking and apparently our opengl code just made it worse, we couldnt remove all the serious crashers so it had to be dropped

its not working...btw, i reported that at your forums

Regarding landscape, thatīs unfortunate...but nothing big i guess

Regarding Opera Link, its one of the BIG features you guys announced...please donīt say its taking alot of time still ...i love it on opera mini, and really miss it here...i think Opera also mentioned Google Gears support btw.

Regarding widgets...do you think any third party will be able to display their content on standby???? Or inside something like gdesk???

replace ROM version (like PDF+ did)
Pdf+ did not replace the ROM version, they coexist.

MMmm...my bad, its quickoffice update that replaces the ROM version

Nevertheless...swmail was able to do it also for PDF+: he ported the g900 version, and made an installer that effectively replaces the older versions that exist on P1/W960/etc
