De-Branding a K850 with Davinci |

Davinci has 029 firmware available.Using this firmware and then using SEUS will sort the debrand out and also put the latest firmware on the phone.Have done this many times.Did my girlfriends W960 yesterday as well.That was a voda handset and the debrand went fine.
@Kai. If you have no joy mate. I'll sort it for you. Just drop it into me at work or summit wit the money for the credits and i'll do it the same night mate.

so u have to use 029 to debrand..u cant with 038?...once after u have 029 u just use SEUS to put 038? |

038 is for branded phones only.
R1CA037 is the latest for sim free, unbranded handsets.
When I got my K850 in December 2007. It already had the 037 firmware on it but someone had done a master reset on the phone.
I checked Davinci and they only had 029 firmware. I flashed to 029 and then used SEUS.
SEUS said I already had the latest software installed but I continued with the update anyway and ended up with 037 with no branding at all.
If Davinci has R1CA037 then reflash with that one. As long as you dont choose the operator specific one you will get the generic version (Choose CUSTOMIZED UK with the correct customization and phone colour - Green or Blue)
Current non operator branded firmwares available on Davinci for the UK (Western Europe) are:-
For the Blue model K850
Version: R1CA037
Phone: K850
Customization: 1201-9794 CUSTOMIZED UK/BLUE
CDA: 1202-5694
Date: 27/11/2007
For the Luminous Green model K850
Version: R1CA037
Phone: K850
Customization: 1203-2590 CUSTOMIZED UK/GREEN
CDA: 1202-5694
Date: 27/11/2007
Note the different customization for each colour K850.
039 is available on Davinci but is only available for HUTCH-WORLD which is an operator branded firmware.
I tried sniffing coke once but didnt like it. The bubbles kept going up my nose  |

I finally debranded mine to:
K850i R1CA037 CID52 K850 1201-9794 CUSTOMIZED UK/ BLUE WESTERN-EUROPE
which is fantastic so much better than the Orange UK, and then i updated to 031 using SEUS.
The phone is now so much better, i now love it.
Nokia 5110 > Nokia 3510 > Samsung E700 > Samsung D500 > (Then I Wised Up)  K800i > K800i@K810i > K850i |

what does the "customization" file mean? is it different meaning on the K790a then for the K850i?
Can a customization file restrict a phone being able to be updated via SEUS or FOTA?

Hey, I've purchased credits and I want to debrand my unlocked Rogers k850i blue phone.
Are there any tips on the process?
Any tips on which firmware I should flash?

ok, i've got a vodafone k850 bought about 4 months back and after reading this thread i'm really tempted to debrand this thing. i just wanted to know if anyone encountered any problems during the process or whatever, really dont wanna take any risks. also, if anything goes wrong with the phone during the flashing or afterwards, can i still take it back to vodafone and tell them it's in the guarantee period??

decided to go for it...
flashing successful, no more ugly vodafone icons and marble madness is there (hopefully working, havnt tried yet) 
now updating via SEUS

being on the 3 network..i don wanna flash my phone as it will stop alot of services from working...is there any other way of removing unwanted locked applications and games (as many of them u need to pay to play..and are just a waste of space)...and editing the softkey shortcuts (i dont like having planet3 and launcher as my shortcuts at the moment) |

I'm a bit of a nooB. I've flashed phones before but only my 2 previous phones.. I've never unlocked a phone before. I've gone through the first step of unlocking using davinci's software. If I have the wrong USB drivers installed am I gonna screw up my phone by proceeding with step 2? Windows installed drivers automatically on my phone but I'm not sure if they are the right ones.. I'm posted a few times about this but nobody has any answers yet.. And davinci didn't answer their phone all day and haven't replied to my emails.
Anybody have any ideas? Thank you in advance.  |

i m not sure...but they may be the drivers that you get when u try to update your phone with SEUS....coz when u run that software....it asks to switch off the phone and remove and replace the battery and press C button while connecting it to the usb...this makes it install some additional drivers the first time!!!!
i reckon if u don't have the right drivers u just wont be able to flash ur phone at all!
