I am a bit puzzled I bought a w950i from 02.
I have been reading threads about people wanting to their w950i's debranding but when I bought mine from 02 it came unlocked and unbranded, do 02 do this with their phones or is it because when I got the phone I inserted my vodafone sim and put the 02 sim in my w850i and never used it on w950i.
Can someone shed any light on this.

firmware is either branded or not branded and this has nothing to do with what sim card you first put in.

I read here a few times that early o2 W950 were totally unbranded but I have no idea if that is still the case

generally o2 brand their phones, but very lightly with startup and shutdown screens and a data account or two are preset

Thx masseur.
U mentioned earlier w950i's were unbranded or be it lightly but I only got mine 3 days ago and it is not even lightly branded.

When i first got my w800 from o2 i ordered it from sum dodgy website but i actually got the phone and it is fully unlocked and debranded so it depeends where you actually get the phone from, if you get it from o2, orange or vodafone it will be branded. If you get it from some website like one out of a newspaper like me you are more likely to get it debranded and unlocked.

@ stargateer

I too have an o2 w950i and although there are no obvious signs believe it to be branded!

do you have rss feeds? as i believe o2 have removed this on their firmware!!

Does anyone know if one of the remote type unbranding services will soon be supporting the UIQ3 phones? Davinciteam, Total Multiserver etc?

All Service Providers have disable rss feeds, as well as some other features, whioch magically reappear upon debranding.

DVT and Wotan wont support UIQ for a While yet.

@Coxy what FW you upgrading peeps too?? Just curious to see what you are using as we use the same tool on most occassions.

@Coxy, where abouts in North Yorkshire are you? Just curious, maybe I'd come visit you if you wouldn't mind? Just a thought at this stage though

Sorry for my newbe question .

If I debrand my p990i .........

May I use future updates with online SE ???

or it will goes backwards to my actual vodafone brand ????

------

I have asked Coxie to debrand my phone but he actually doesnot give the service overseases ( Spain ) .

I have found ( kingmobilephone ) that it does to me , but he advertize me that SE online web will detect my phone IMEI that its loked with vodafone and SE will put actual firmware but branded.

That info its OK ?

If the CDA is changed on the phone then all further firmware updates you get from Sony Ericsson's website will be the debranded ones too.

Thx for taht fast answer shuurajou

well here is another one ... )

What does exactly CDA ???

CDA is a list of hardware changes from first phone ?

Im afraid that if you change CDA in a phone your also changing hardware info to online SE.

Am I wrong ??

Are there a logical way to update- change CDA or its an arbitrary way to do ??

Hi all,
OK i really don't get this why would the Networks want to remove the RSS feeds surely this would increase Data traffic and revenue for them. If any one has a logical answer I'd love to know as to me it just makes no sense, having said that not a lot of what the Networks do makes sense.
