@lisa: i noticed that if i have a program running (jmirc) and swissmanager, and then start the broswer, the jmirc does not get closed down by opera if you click exclude Nice work!

PS: Does swiss manager get killed by the built in memory manager?

EDIT: swissmanager got killed by the mem . Any fix for that?

@MR, any details about the next firmware for P990 you talked sometime ago??? Can we expect great improvement on the memory management dep???

Uhm nothing I see directly. I did hear story what worries me. The P990i is far from finished. We do know that but I heard there are major issues deep inside the device and software that need to be addressed first. All the issues we address are low prio now, because they need to sort out those major software and UIQ issues first.

A nice thing is the following. Make a backup and then restore your phone! You will loose of Symbian certificates and you need to install all your 3rd party software over again. Those problems will be handled first is my opinion.

MR

well...see it like this: with R7A and apps like Swiss Manager, P990 is already fairly stable...but not optimized - if you say they have lot of work to do about UIQ itself, and software, we now have "proof" that they will try to solve the memory leaks problem, or at least reduce it to a much lower level

@johnex, you use jmirc?? wirc 2 is much better

The Pro version will have an option to "resist that kind of death".

Hopefully they realize how much (and basic) work they need to do, but the proof will only be a fixed firmware.

It's impossible to deactivate the built-in taskmgr, but on the other hand SwissMgr Pro is intended to make you forget it's there at all.

That's okay, see previous post.

For now, just put a shortcut on the Activity menu for Swiss Manager, and restart it whenever you feel you (and SE) did something terrible to your phone

Hi to All, I am writing here an example of what Swiss Manager 1.10's "Clean Up When Idle" feature actually does in real life

1. Did not set FM as an "exception" list.
2. Playing FM music when on the move or via my MDS-60 music stand.
3. After a couple of mins, the FM just suddenly stopped...
4. This shows Swiss Manager really kills the FM player off when idle.
5. Set FM as exception on Swiss Manager and all goes fine and well

So, do take note about this feature and ensure those app you wanted to run in the background is set as an exception on Swiss Manager 1.10

indeed...but admiting the phone is not finished yet in the software part is a good step from SE, and means we can look to the future with a smile...if i am already fairly satisfied with P990, i will be even more when the next firmware versions are launched

The beta for UIQ2 will be announced most probably early next week here, so just stay tuned until that.

The user guide and FAQ for Swiss Manager are now online at the CellPhoneSoft website. The docs are also available for offline reading as a downloadable .pdf file.
