i had the same problem as yours. i found a forum about this problem, and it may be due to a bad EROM. try connecting to SE update service, and press "2" and "5" instead of "C". if your phone could be detected, then the problem could be fixed. check also the posts in seuniverse.com regarding this same problem and how to fix it. |

Funny thing is, I left it playing MP3s overnight, and when I woke up the next day, it won't turn itself on.
Any ideas on how to restore my dead K800i?

Take it back to your service centre and tell the guys to fix your phone. They have to upgrade you firmware or replace it. You do have waranty.

is it just me or does anyone else think not being able to change backlight time is a stupid idea?! i mean, im watching a video thats 3 min long, and if u dont do anything for a few seconds everything goes dim!? whats the point of these capabilities and live tv offered by 3g networks if u have to keep pressing a button to keep it active.

My K800i with firmware R1ED001 and with EROM R3A011 from june 30th 2006, with update service software version CRH1069179 R3B019 is showing 2 odd bugs:
I don't see the menu to upgrade the phone firmware thru GPRS anymore (not using a computer) and more importantly, the infrared from the K800i is not recognized by my laptop although all the K800i drivers have been installed correctly with the cable connection. Weird as the infrared was working great with my old T630 and the same laptop...
Also if you choose 3G+GSM instead of GSM only, you can't get the GSM data modem to work for email thru the data account. It just won't work. I had to revert to GSM only in order for the phone modem to connect to my internet network provider...But that's probably due to my mobile network provider.

Hi,
Just got my K800i and set up pc suite, (downloaded from sony ericsson site as my cd-rom drive is currently not working) ...
... and everytime i go to open the pc suite it gives me an error message saying ..
'This application has failed to start because Telecalib_logging.dll was not found. Re-Installing the application may fix this problem.'
Does anyone now how to resolve this or experiencing this problem at the moment?

I have the same problem and need to get it fixed. I got the phoen a week ago from Sony in London and now I am back here in TX and get this constantly, SE USA said they can fix it for $100 or go back to london and have SE UK fix it... WTF |

To all that have problem (WSOD, Red-Led blinking) try to update EROM at Kulankendi/Wotanserver first. It will 99% fix your problem. |

Well it seems that EROM is an equivalent to BIOS in mobile phone. According to davinci team, one of its job is to prepare for firmware flashing. So you might try to update that. You can press >*<<*<* software info and see what is your firmware and EROM ver. Latest firmware is R1GB001 and latest EROM is R3A016.
EROM can't be updated with SEUS (update service) but only with third party http://www.kulankendi.com or http://www.wotanserver.com or http://www.seuniverse.com. It is free to update EROM but most site require you to have 1 credit. Or you can ask SE authorised service centre to update EROM. Some will do it but other won't. You may go to this thread http://www.esato.com/board/viewtopic.php?topic=124349 and browse it for more info.
Older EROM may have problem that can cause WSOD or unable to power-on. It may be related to your phone not recognised (have you install USBFlash driver?), I don't know it for sure. But you can try client from those three third party to see whether their client can recognised your phone.

Yes, I have this problem on my phone at the moment - having to use the headset which means my pocket is now full of cables. Ironically, a day after my ear speaker failed, the same happened to my girlfriends speaker. Annoyingly I have to send it away for repair and will be without the handset for 1 - 2 weeks. |

my k800i died while connected to the computer....it then just kept on restarting itself with a flashing white screen...
toke it down to carphonewarehouse to reflash but got a call from them saying "they cant fix it"!! and it need to go away to SE for 2-3 weeks ARGH!!
cant they really reflash a phone??? |
