no need for dos

in windows, just go into Tools -> Folder Options -> click the VIEW tab and uncheck the "Hide extensions for known file types"

then you can rename the file, including the file type, in the way you probably were trying to do

Hi Mass,

Sorry for taking time to reply, but I have had my hands full. Here is what I have done.

@lucas, I have some feedback now on my BTTF theme complete with some screen shots

the first looks great except the white on the highlited icon

I cant find were in the theme creator to change this. Anyone knows?

in the second you can see the main menu but the highlited icon appears white around the icon picture rather than taking on the appearance of the background (transparancy?)

Same here. I have not found anyway to change this.

next is the tools menu where again the highlited option is in white and virtually unreadable

and finally a dialogue, in this case the more menu of file manager, where again most options are virtually unreadable

I have looked in to both of these and it turns out, that if I change this there will be places were you have menus in black and text in black.

I hope you don't mind this feedback and I also hope there is something you can do about these as it really is a good theme otherwise

Np mate. I have thick skin.

Check out the new version here and let me know what you think (did what I could and added something I think you will like):

The thing is that the theme creator for is far from complete for the M600 and I guess thats why I am one of the few how has patiance of doing themes in it. You start of with a plan of a theme and then you realize that you cant do half the things you want. Crap, but I do my best.

Cheers
Luc

Listen to the ring tones, sms sounds, alerts...

I assume you mean the return button. And sod's law says that as a follow on from my previous comments, it's one of the ones that you can't get to normally.

I'm typing this from a different computer, so I can't verify, but this should work.
- Firstly, the image is 2 images side by side. The one on the left is the normal image, and the right is the image when the button is pressed
- When you've created your theme, unzip the utz file, maintaining the directory structure
- Add your bitmap to the location of all the other bitmaps (Graphics I think)
- Open the theme.xml file in the top directory, and search for a section
Code:
<skin id="TitleBar">

- Just before the closing of this section, add something along the lines of
Code:
<patch id="TitleBackButton" file="AppTitleBack.png">

<drawProperties drawMode="Stretch" leftMargin="6" rightMargin="6" topMargin="6" bottomMargin="6"/>
</patch>

- Rezip all the files into a new utz

Thanks for the tip mate. You mentioned that the images are two images side by side, but it looks like the code strip you mention only gives one link to one image. How and which code do I use to get the other image?

Since it looks like you know how to get this stuff working, can you help me solve the problem with how I can design the apperance of the Icon selector?

Cheers
Luc

I can answer the first question now-

You specify one image, but that image contains 2 images side by side (if you see what I mean). Say you have a return button image that is 15 pixels wide by 10 pixels high. Then you need to create an image that is 30 pixels wide by 10 pixels high. The left 15 pixels are used for the normal appearance of the button, whilst the right 15 pixels are used to show what the button is like when pressed. Hope that makes sense.

Ha ha. So I see you based your theme on one of the others - probably white at a guess. Well guess what. You need to change another image that's not accessible from the SE theme editor. lol.

If you extract your theme, as I mentioned in my previous post, you'll see an image called GridHighlight.png. Replace that with the selection icon of your choice. To get something through which you can see the background, make sure you use the alpha channel of the PNG.

When I get a moment, I intend to post on the SE forum listing all the skinnable options that are missing from thier program. Hopefully they'll sort it out properly.

Hi Guys,

Going back to the Black and White themes posted by Masseur, please clarify how you actually get them onto the M600. Forgive my ignorance but I'm not very keyed in on these matters. I can get all the files on my PC but where do I go from there?? Please keep things simple for a simple person!!

@gseh88

Check a few posts back. Masseur explains how to go into windows explorer and untick the hidden files option.

Then you will be able to rename your zip files on your pc, giving them the .utz extension.

Then they will be ready for you to bluetooth to your phone and install..
Cheers

Thanks, Avantis. I understood the renaming of the zip files (I think!!) but wasn't sure what to do after that. If I bluetooth it to my phone, will it know where to put the file? Better still, can I drag and drop the file to the phone and if so, which folder?

If you blutooth the files, they will be recognised by your phone when you open the message.
All you have to do then is install them. They will be saved by defaukt on your memory card (If you have one).

thanks, this theme is great.

so far I have heard the doc saying "I sent him into the future", the headmaster saying "slacker" and the doc saying "great scott!"

I've had a look into the xml for the theme and notice there are a couple more so I extracted them and played them.

you really did a good job with this!

One place is from the Sony Ericsson developer site. Someone posted the link earlier in this thread. Since I'm feeling so nice today, I'll post it again. Here you go:
