@amby: I actually came across a post where you were asking for solutions to your pal's M600 that won't connect to PC.

Yes, exactly my point, after two firmware upgrades to that M600i, my pal has been so impressed that he's sold his N70 and given the N73 to his PA. He's as eager as I am to lay hands on the P700i.
There's no amount of firmware upgrade that can make a bad phone good, it only makes a good phone better. So if UIQ3 is finally becoming stable, that can only mean better days ahead. I happen to be a lover of touchscreen devices, and UIQ is symbian's best touchscreen OS.
Please bear in mind that I have used phones from other manufacturers and have settled for based on my preferences.

@amby/Areafada: It's all good as far as you are happy with your choice.
There is a growing presence of phone manufacturers and authorised dealers in Nigeria of recent. Nokia has an Office and unique store @ Palms. Motorola authorised dealer is somewhere in V.I. Even Windows Mobile dealers are showing up: Race Telecoms sells i-mate branded WM devices; and HTC has a local authorised dealer too.
When I get back to Lagos, I'll do some research on phones and devices offered for sale by these authorised dealers, compare their prices internationally and enquire about after sales services (repairs, software updates and warranties).

@Guys: Celtel has started charging for its gprs service, so be careful how u use it. Its still the cheapest gprs available though. 10k/kb download. So that does it for free internet on Celtel. it was good while it lasted. Next stop, free 3g testing

10k/kb - even on Pay as you Go? That would be revolutionary! If so, I'll love to see the response of MTN and Glo to that. I'll get and load a Celtel line and see. If its 10k/kb as you say, my GPRS spending till further notice will go to Celtel, while Glodirect and take a break.

That's great news from Celtel, 10k per kilobyte is the cheapest offered by any network so far. Glo postpaid rate is 35k/kb for peak and 20k/kb for offpeak. Boy, I'm switching over to Celtel for browsing while my Glo line remains for calls & text. Anyone with a spare slim phone to sell? Must be a Motorola or Samsung mid to low end.

@Areafada: I am not so much into games but SkyForce rocks. You can get this and other fine S60 version 3 apps from www.series60v3.com. Enjoy!

@All: billing on Celtel gprs is still erratic. yesterday, I was billed, and by my calculation it was 10k/kb. but since yesterday, its been free, and rock steady. mms is working too and its free.

The Celtel tariffs just don't make sense. I think it will end up as a postpaid tariff. I don't see Celtel going below the typical 60kobo /kb. Celtel is just tooo money conscious these days. Let's see how the days go.

@coola: Lets keep our fingers crossed and hope for the best.
Meanwhile, I am back in Lagos but no GPRS signal on my Celtel line after settings were installed. Hmmm!

Just reading some of your comments regarding Celtel's relatively cheap data rates and I'm not suprised. It seems Naija consumers are still a fickle bunch. Whereas consumers there walk around with four simcards down here people tend to be loyal to their network- ok maybe not Cell C.
