Today i had the opportunity to visit the N.G.Kerk in Uniondale. The church was built in 1865, and in 1866 it successfully mediated in a fight between two neighbouring towns, which then joined to become Uniondale, with the church at the centre. I was able to closely examine the architecture of this historic building, and once inside was hugely impressed by the craftsmanship of the furnishings. They simply don't make em that way any longer... I examined the original chairs which are still in use by the church council and dominee. Not a single screw in use, all wooden joints and pins, and still as solid as ever.

Kryptic you have to, depending on your age, write a book of your Memoirs. Autobiography may come across as a tad immodest. You really write brilliantly; you have the tertiary element that hooks the eye.

Sorry if this is a bit random but its been ruminating in the back of my mind.

@francois, visit the graveyard at Franschoek on a cloudy day. You will see a ghost, or at the very least feel its cold.

da krypsta is way too young to be writing memoirs...come to think of it why do football players "write" their autobiographies in their early 20s and pop music acts release a "best of" album when they've hardly made four albums.

Anyone been reading about Archbishop Desmond Tutu's address at the 7th annual Steve Biko lecture held at UCT. I just happened to be there at Jameson Hall to listen to him and he spoke a lot of truth, discussed it with a friend this afternoon.

lol Brix, that's so true, anybody who's enjoyed their 15min of fame (cf Andy Warhol!) seems to be frothing at the bit to dash off the sordid details of their lives.

@Psycho, as tempting as it may seem to indulge in some random scribblings, my mother would, to phrase it mildly, moer me senseless, if she ever found out half of what her son has been doing!! Who knows, maybe one day...

Kryptic. Memoirs are usually indulged in after the passing away of elders, when the individual in question is himself quite old. Otherwise a pseudonym never hurt. But seriously dont let your mam stop you....!

Agreed brix. As Alan Bennett put it, "Writing is one-tenth perspiration and nine-tenths masturbation".

did anyone have trouble getting online this evening?it was quite a mission.

if i ever had to bring out a best of album,it would be a'10 years of'album.i remember the first time i saw atomic kitten's best of.i was rather puzzled,as i could not think a group with so many annoying songs could even have a best of single.but then again, they are not nearly as bad as some other artists(spice girls:-)

Eish, I'm suddenly feeling like an older wanqa this morning; just got an sms from one of my past pupils in SA, who I taught when she was in Grade 6. (she got my cell number from my older sister).
She finished 4 years of studying at Rhodes/ Fort Hare University last year and has also become a teacher, and is now getting married in July.
Unfortunately I won't be able to make the wedding in EL, as the UK schools only break up later in July.

Same here...everyone is getting married, but I am at that age where it happens.

Tonight I am meeting up with a friend of my brothers whom he met in Belgium. She is from the US, stopping here on her way to somewhere in Africa. Not sure where. My brother is at a converence in Bloemfontein, so it is up to me and Handsome to go meet up with her.

lol Brix, not only are many of mine married, some have kids who are older than Lana!

On a far lighter note, i think i mentioned that my cuz and one of my best buds are getting married in two weeks time, right? Well, he wanted to get a haircut here in Haarlem, but unfortunately there ain't no such thang available here... So my cuz decided to cut his hair herself... Much to his dismay and my great amusement, it now resembles the skin of a flea-bitten donkey

I want my ex gf back, even though she says she still loves me she's putting a whole lot of obstacles in the path of us being together...like my lack of religion and my partying antics (which is overrated). What can I do to make this woman come back apart from spraying muti on her food?

My bro got engaged. R28 000 ring!!!!!!!!

@brix, dude.... maybe the problems lie with you and not her? Maybe your lack of religion and overrated partying antics (of which you have regretted a few in the past) aren't just her moaning. Maybe they are deep personal concerns that need to be aproached by you to make your life a happier more fulfilled one.

Or maybe not.
