Dec 19 is the launch date for Docomo Z1f. Do you mean you heard it will be released internationally same day?

Sony is hinting that 2014 will be the year of 4k content.
What can we expect from Xperia phones? 4K recording? Will this be in the Z2?

Yeah, Qualcomm just announced a budget 64bit Snapdragon 410 and the said that devices with this chip will appear in 2H14, So I guess they saved these higher-end to bigger events like CES or MWC...
So guys, some may just decided to skip Z1s for Z2 for these big changes... wonder what else the Z2 might come with...
Actually, the 410 looks like it's for low-end and mid-range phones. The 805, strangely, has no 64-bit support.

The rumor here say that the "z1s" will have that display size - read the first page. are you saying this based on a source or just your own opinion?

Check the first post again "(XR4) Z2, the Z1's 2014 successor, 5.2" 1920x1080 IPS screen" ... Z1s seems more like a revamped edition than a proper successor, thats my opinion

you misunderstood the line because it's not written correctly:
"Update: 10/26 (XR4) Z2, the Z1's 2014 successor, 5.2" 1920x1080 IPS screen Page 10 " - "Z2" = Z1s. |

Bit buggy, because I'm using a proxy, but look who just arrived into Play Store:

I just came to say this...
Google just announced Xperia Z Ultra GPE along with LG 8 incher tablet...
Good job Sony, but we need it earlier and much closer to the original version release... and let's have GPE of Z1's and Z2 also not just the ultra

Sony z Ultra google edition seem nice and also they removed the Xperia Name because Sony wants it to be Recognized with their UI only |

That's an interesting development. I can see why they dropped the Xperia name too.

^ Are you sure?
That'd be great, I'd love to see a highend Sony with Ubuntu Touch!

Just the Docomo Z1f, not the international mini version.
@amirprog:
According to whom Z1s = Z2 ?
Maia recently said Z1s will not be Z2, which sounded logically to me.
@Z Ultra GPE:
It was time for a Sony GPE device! Very good!

From what I understood for Sony flagship strategy
There will be two phones
1- The main phone: slated for second half launch
2- Upgraded phone: slated for first half launch, comes with the same name as the main phone but with "s" at the end, the design language is also the same.. just slightly upgraded spec.
The strategy is for 2014, but coz the upgraded phone is meant to be launched in the first half of 2014, then the strategy actually already started with Xperia Z1 as the main phone, if somebody here knows a little bit about PC component, then it will look like Intel's Tick Tock strategy, Tick is an upgrade for the original microarchitecture ( new process and maybe slight changes to performance/feature set), while the Tock is a complete new microarchitecture...
1H13: Xperia Z
2H13: Xperia Z1 (Tock - New design and phone)
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- We Are Here
1H14: Xperia Z1s (Tick - slightly upgraded Z1)
2H14: Xperia Z2 (Tock - New design and phone, the true successor to Z1)
1H15: Xperia Z2s (Tick - slightly upgraded Z2)
2H15: Xperia Z3 (Tock - New design and phone, the true successor to Z2)
1H16: Xperia Z3s (Tick - slightly upgraded Z3)
2H16: ...
if we and the strategy lived that long
But what we will have next is the Tick, not a successor to Z1, but an upgrade... better clocked SoC, better screen and more mature overall software ( specially camera )
later in 2H14 we will have the Tock, the true successor to Z1, which we call it Z2 ( we don't know how it will be called ), and if things went as what we wish, it will have the new Qualcomm 64bit SoC with Krait64 core, Quad or Octa who knows, maybe the Octa is destined for Tablets only...

@DexterMoser
you misunderstood maia. read what Xajel wrote. the mobile sites news is also confusing. they call z1s the china z1... no rumor is 100% accurate, but z1s as the z1 successor is logical for announcement in less then half a year of the previous announcement. that way z1 users are not pissed off. |
