Satio vs N8 @ Night (note that the combined ISO and SS results in the same exposure - perfectly comparable shots):
N8 (ISO-500, 1/5s Shutter Speed):

Despite the higher noise level from the N8´s shot, I guess that the level of resolved detail is pretty much on par.
Nevertheless, I would like to have even slower Shutter Speeds with Lower ISO. If it can do that at ISO-500, imagine what it would do at ISO-100.

Vit, but one key point here which you do not mention is that in order to get this shot with the Satio, you either need a tripod or have to rest the phone on something.
With the N8 you can take this picture by hand, just point and shoot due to the fast shutter speed.
If the N8 had a shutter speed control so we can get at least 1 sec shutter speeds, it would truly be an amazing all around camera.
Lets hope they implement it. |

Adding to Jake's comment, can't you also see that, putting the noise and details aside, teh whole scene is better exposed by the N8 and the color saturation is far superior?
It would be nice to post the original photos as well..
Anyway, it seems I can't resist the N8 anymore, I'm definitely ordering a one.. 
Problem remains which color to choose.. |

Last two shots look really bad but they can't be caused by the lens because everything is blurry. I think the problem is the guy who took those photos.

No, I cannot agree on that. Colour reproduction and saturation seems better on Satio´s shot. The N8 tends to make all colours look like yellow. Those street gas lamps have an orange tone, not yellow.
I reckon that the Satio´s shot is a better representation of this scene.
That´s why I still prefer having slower SS and lower ISO. If we could have that, the N8 would perform much better IMO.

Yeah, Jake, that´s true.
But the N8´shot was not truly handheld either. @ 1/5 I needed a pretty steady hand and also needed to support my elbows at the parapet.

Those pictures that you posted the satio and N8 were taken at night in Curitiba? sorry out of context, because it looks like a street ..
Another thing, you have the 2 devices? I'm interested in purchasing a N8 (till a certain time ago and was sick for mobile photography). I stopped in Sonyericsson K790 (which at the time paid the current value of N8) ... Then I did not feel a greater need for other devices.
After that just got an I-Mobile 902 used on Mercado Livre for night shots without flash, which is where the player stands, and all I saw until now including all brands worldwide best shot. Macro it is also great. Too bad the rest unsatisfying, as part of multimedia.
With the N8 I saw an opportunity to progress, a chance to replace the K790 and i-mobile 902, the part that I like most in a cell, the photo. But I saw he is a great mobile phone (of course gets shot in multimedia and the like) and as a camera it is clear that despite being better than Satio in night shots, very good for a cameraphone, will not replace my I-mobile for this purpose if I buy the N8. Nokia could include exposure modes in seconds, it would be very good (maybe leave some "mod cameradriver" that includes this). Another thing I found the photo with Xenon flash that Nokia should have chosen a stronger flash and do not compensate with higher ISO and a slower speed until the machine handles well but is more complicated assim.Mas xenon does its best role also logical.
Lest you think I came here just to criticize, are just of views on a great product, but do not waste my time with these questions here. Like the shooting of N8, I think that is me calling more attention to the handset, using a mobile shooting at 720p with good quality, instead of a heavy camera for day to day. I think that's it for now.
