the nokia 6230 is a s40 phone and it works for me:) . i could connect to my pc with no hassles. i am usin Airtel nop. just one data account seems to be enough . earlier i used to get a ppp protocol error during dialing. but then i figured out that there is some more setting that needs to be configured. thanks to rahul. goto settings>connection>gprs modem settings . . and set the apn to Airtelwap.com. for Airtel live users i presume it should be Airtelfun.com . once i did this the ppp error never appeared and i could connect and surf free internet. the speed was quite outstanding . . . bout 64k! . hope someone finds this info useful:)

Higher end s40 phones like nok 6230 and 6230i have multichannel gprs access. So we r able to use spartan's trick. But nok 6020 etc doesnt support multichannel gprs access.Whether first connected from pc or from phone when we try to use other connection(to access site from phone) it says "QUIT DATA CONNECTION FIRST". @niranjan ur trick doesnt seem to work

Dudes,
Now we should upgrade our knowledge.
So stop asking the same old questions and try to become smart.
OK
So tell me how this free GPRS trick works(I want the logic) and how can it be avoided?(I'm not in part of Airtel, but we should know it)
Thanks

@alan here's my theory:
when you connect via airtel live, the server tries blocks to block your port (associated with your phone no.) from accessing other sites.
When you make 2 connections, i assume the server remembers only the most recent connection you make (ie the one made by the phone in our method) and tries to block only that port.
So the first port is free from server's interference and can access any site.
Hence if you dont make two simultaneous connections, you will always be blocked.
Ps- this not may be the exact thing taking place, although i beleive this is whats happening |

Thanks niranjan for the theory. This challenge is still on. So post more views.
By the way, tell me another logic
U might be knowing that using Brute Force method(trying again & again), u can get full access. Now tell me how that works? Its not easy.
I asked another question in my previous post. How can it be blocked? So post ur solutions. |

Why not call airtel and ask them why this happens?

I think airtel restricts its wap access using airtel live using speed restrictions . MO users r able to access the upper band so they can access all the sites. But they cannot block two ports. So when we r able to attain tat speeds we breakthrough the server and r able to access the sites |

@alan my speculation about the keep on trying method is this: imagine the firewall thats blocking to be a one handed guy and the requests (site address sent by phone) you send to be balls. When you request for something, compare the ball to be rolled on the floor towards the server.
Now, if the firewall discovers the request is for a different site, but you are not having authorization, it can simply block the server from receivin it, like deflecting the ball. It just sends back the access denied message.
When you keep trying in quick succession, ie like rolling many balls one after the other towards the server, the firewall is not able to keep up with that speed, as it has to first identify the sender, check the address and also his authorization. The chance of missing a ball and letting it reach the server increases.
Once the firewall misses a request, the server receives it and processes the same, and provides the required site.
After that for the next request you make, i can only imagine that seeing that you've already gone through to the server once, it no longer tries to block you and you have access to all the sites.
I think this is more or less what's happening, although its just a theory.
And as for avoiding it, well who cares? maybe they would need to upgrade the firewall or something or the better way is to provide it for free
---------------------------
and with regard to s40 phones lets think about what we want, but cannot achieve: we need two open connections, which the phone doesnt support.
So i guess the only way you can get full access is by the endurance method, unless of course there is someway to connect twice.
Personally, i feel that by definition, s40 phones cant do it as they cannot multitask. For example, i can have two or more connections using my phone alone. |

Yes. Yesterday I checked it with my friend's sim card which has MO activated. I was getting 40kbps.
But with our hacked connection, I get more than 45kbps. |
