@ brix, jim saw nacho libre on the plane on his way here. He loved it. But his criteria for the brilliance of a movie is based on one thing: is it funny:) let me put it this way, if you enjoy jack black and enjoyed napoleon dynamyte, you should enjoy it, or so says jim.
Listening to a cd our church brought out today. Lots of the music we have at our church is original, so the results is a original piece of work. I like:)
My word, there is a mercedes bus driving in front of us. Let me just say this, i remember when i had my first beer...it still didnt make me think i can dance:)

@da wanqsta: I've decided against moving out because it would've been too traumatic...I was thinking of moving to either Tamboerskloof or Gardens but finding decent place there at the right rental is easier said than done.
@francois: Thanks for the heads up, I've seen some mixed reviews for the movie but wanted to see it because I loved Jack Black in School of Rock and last year's King Kong...Napoleon Dynamite was ok but it totally went over my head...would prefer Harold and Kumar Goes to White Castle- a really cool slacker movie.
EDIT: Ok, I just booked my ticket online for the 2.30pm show.
BTW, hope all the Muslims on the thread have a blessed month of Ramadaan and a belated Happy New Year to all the Jewish members on the thread.

Ah, the red revolution continues...
The UK's Carphone Warehouse have just announced that they will now be getting red Samsung D900's from November.

Notorious as in shades of Tommy Hatcher a la "Green Street"? I really enjoyed the movie, gave me a bit of insight into football hooliganism.

@ brix, so how was the movie? |

Interesting that you mention Green Street, O Kryptik One.
As I'm sure you recall, that was based around West Ham fans in London's East End.
Green Street does indeed exist and is literally just down the road from where I teach. Green Street is in Upton Park, home to West Ham United. Now funnily enough, the majority of people staying in Upton Park are actually from Indian, Pakistani or Bangladeshi origin, and there are far fewer cockney die-hards in the area than what there was before all these immigrants arrived in decades past.
Yeah, most of the cockneys around there moved out into the lower regions of the neighbouring county of Essex, many in local council estate-type places like Dagenham and Basildon, etc. when all these very different-cultured 'foreigners' began moving into the not-so-affluent parts of the East End.
Ja-nee, and how quick did the world always focus on SA as regards racial differences in years gone by when so much would go on in their own back yards...
When West Ham has a home match, there is literally a sea of fans clad in the club's claret and blue coloured shirts pouring out from Upton Park's tube station (along Green Street), arriving from these neighbouring areas en mass while the Asian population in Upton Park, where the stadium is, look on...
Nah, Millwall are renowned for having one of the worst hooligan/ yob elements of all English football clubs.
Here's a quote from marxist.com, of all places:
"There is a football team in London called Millwall. It is more famous for its supporters than its skills on the football ground. One fan is supposed to have said: "I was in a fight last Saturday and a football match broke out". Now Millwall fans have a slogan used for both their supporter's club motto and song, which goes like this: "Nobody likes us, and we don't care".
LOL! Delightful. Agh shame, the phrase 'plebs of the realm' now comes to mind...'Nuff said.

@francoislr: It could've been better...if this movie is aimed at kids this holiday I'm afraid it's going to go way over their heads...very few people were in the cinema to start with...their were some funny bits but it just could not sustain the movie...everything felt to laboured from the punchlines and the quasi-Mexican accents...I still like Jack Black but this movie was disappointing.
@jmash: I finally got the SA Computer magazine which comes with the HD demos...the short movies didn't blow me away they're nice but watching HD content on my 17inch LCD is like trying to fondle a fat girl...you just can't get the spot.

^^ROLMAO...there should be laws against such acts of abuse
I've watched those HD demos again and they do look brilliant, the Windows Media Video HD codec comes out on top compared to the DiVx HD which also came with the magazine.
Back on cellphone issues...yesterday while at the Waterfront I poppe into Cellucity, enquired about availability of the M600i and the guy behind the counter couldn't give me any indication when they would have the phone.
EDIT: Here are some interesting prices from CaCell...they're Cape Town based...sometimes they seem like a rip-off but checking the price of the M600i- basically it's the same price that Cell C are offering on the phone.

Hi all
The price on the P990i also seems pretty accurate - having phoned the SE shop ( based in Jhb ) and spoken to the ? manager ? - who sounded like he was about to die from terminal boredom - according to him the P990i will sell for between R7500 - R8000.
Stopped off at the same CellC shop a few days ago - the guy behind the desk knelt down to peer at something taped to his side of the counter, then announced that they don't have stock of M600i - " it's at our head office in Jhb ". |

Hey aqualung, welcome aboard!
What phone are you currently using?
BTW, your username, does it relate to any marine-based past-time that you have?
I remember the old Jethro Tull album by the same name too. Was just wondering. |

Thanks, amawanqa
Currently using P910i - love it - but need a better camera - holding out for P990i - if MTN and SE can get their act together.
Not particularly nautical - well spotted on the username though - I was thinking of a username - that would be completely unrelated to what I am / do - and that Jethro Tull album popped into my head

I can relate to the camera issue; my long-suffering P900 has been my all-time fave phone to date, having owned it for 29-odd months..a record for me.
I'm totally sold on the UIQ3 platform and the input options that the P-series offers. I enjoy taking pics, so the P990i finally seemed like they'd made of an effort to address the particularly passe VGA camera's limitations.
I'm patiently waiting for the P990i price to drop further...at the moment one could almost get a K800i AND M600i for virtually the same money in the UK...hmmm...food for thought this side... |

Has anyone downloaded mxit v5 this afternoon? Or more specifically, experienced problems with it? |
