I'm sending mine back for repair/replacement. Four reasons:
1. The space key is very dodgy now, it will insert an additional one or two spaces at random whenever I press it, even though I press on the same spot and with the same pressure each time...
2. Many keys on the bottom two rows of keys on the keyboard are nowhere near as responsive as they used to be. They now require a hard press, and I have to consciously remember to press these keys harder than the others. The X1's strongest point is its keyboard, and now it's so dodgy that I can't write at a decent speed with it. Not something I expect for a $1000 device (in my local currency) especially when the keyboard is one of its strongest points.

I experience this too. So annoying - especially after a fullstop you dont get the auto caps. My "?" button needs a little encouragement too. Thinking about taking the back off and cleaning the button contacts under the keypad. Shudder at the thought tho... |

3. Outlook forgets my email signature even after I hard reset the device.
4. Most other users are reporting battery life far better than I'm getting.
I just hope they send me a replacement rather than repair this one.
Do you guys think I should try and put up with the phone for a while until they release a new version?

I thought I was the only one. My space key is doing exactly the same, either not putting a space in, or putting two spaces in. Some days it will be fine, others it will be really bad. Suppose it's not going to get any better.
I love this phone to bits, but I've only had it a few months. If I have to keep sending it off for replacement or repair, I might just see if I can get another model. |

Ok, but I was asking which version did you download?
X1 is not supported there, so which device did you choose?
And did you install this trough PC?? |

It really comes down to whether or not you need a keyboard - If you do, go with the X1. If you're fine with a soft keyboard, and you like Windows Mobile, then go with the Touch HD.
If you can live without all of the following features, then the iPhone is probably best: Bluetooth file sharing, MMS, video calling, memory card slots, hacks etc. without voiding warranty, Flash, decent camera, voice commands, handwriting recognition, ability to change UI styles between stylus-optimised (standard WinMo) and finger-optimised (TouchFlo3D and/or Spb Shell), HSDPA at 7.2Mbps, using your phone as a Bluetooth modem or even a wireless (ie. WiFi) router, ability to play the best audio and video formats (eg. FLAC and DivX) because MP3 sucks and AAC is worse, a huge modding and developer community, ability to view your phone's filesystem and share files between applications, good GPS software with features like voice navigation, the ability to use your phone as a torch (erm, NO, iPhone owners who think that a white screen with full backlight constitutes a torch - just NO), ability to browse network file shares and view files shared by computers on your network, and a plethora of free and commercial apps, some of which are extremely clever and useful.

Get the Nokia 5800 it is way better than any WinMo phone has a great screen and as for the iPhone it simply cannot compete.
I have owned the ... T68i T610, P800, P900, P910, P990, W950, P1, W960 But SE have now totally lost the plot. |

Although of course it does compete, and is selling far more than either the 5800 or the X1.
Let's be real here, the iPhone is the competition, and it's been winning from the start.

Better get the Nokia 1200, this is a REAL competition, it sells 10 times more than the iPhone.

I think you'll find the iPhone is selling to prospective X1 and 5800 purchasers. The 1200 isn't, afaik.

Sure, I was just smiling to returning phrases like "it's winning from the beginning" etc.

But it kind of has been, hasn't it? I smile at the idea that the iPhone "doesn't compete" when not only is it very competitive with phones like the X1, but it was cleaning up the X1's target market since months before the X1 was even released to a very muted fanfare last year. The Xperia brand with its emphasis on "user eXperience" is SE's direct answer to the iPhone, but I very much doubt the X1 made even a glancing impact on the Apple juggernaut. It's the X1 that doesn't compete.
WTH is wrong with SE these days anyway?

For me as I use it every day in a power-user way, iPhone doesn't even have a chance to compete with none of the current smartphones with it's fundamental lacks and do we have to go through it again? It's not the real quality which wins since most of users don't care.
It's a marketing strategy, that's it.
