Mamba You no know before? Abu na big time Starcomms distributor

@2tek: The 230kbps you heard of cannot be true, none of the 1xRTT service providers in Nigeria are able to deliver such speeds. Even starcomms 3G broadband service does not deliver that speed. I've used a friend's connection, and it wasn't as fast as I thought it would be.
I advice you not to pay more than 10k/month for any internet connection, otherwise it wouldn't be worth it.
Even my netcom offers 3G broadband for N6k per month for a 1Gb total download, how you use it is left to you, but its slightly faster than Starcomms 3G broadband.

@brix25 thanks for you insight on the N95, in other words N95 is not yet ready for the market, then why so much noise on the product that is not ready? well mayb that's Nokia marketing strategy for it's products. ie delays and expectations from willing customers.
cause my N93 is messing up, if i close the flip with some considerable force the battery will jilt from it's position and will disconnect, thereby switching off my fone always, so now i close the flip with care, does warranty cover this faulty or is it nokia factory design fault? anybody with some insght to this?

@Aya ,How low can you discribe celtel? as low as Mtel that's bad men, if i was celtel after reading that post i will leave Nigerian market for good. ie consumer confidence is not low but lost.

Bros na wa o! why not put in some paper to pad it. You these rich people sef na wa o! Because your N93 has a little wahala that can be fixed you are already considering N95. By the way, both phones (N95 and N93) are almost the same.

The Marketing guru hard at work. I just bought a Reltel and will be buying one for my gf next week. I like the Friends and Family package that allows me to CALL ANY RELTEL LINE FOR FREE. Can Starcomms beat that?

These rumours about Yar'adua's health, cant be good for his political ambition. Well, back to the business of Phone and Telecoms.
@Mamba: All you need for the "My Netcom" broadband is a wireless broadband modem that looks like a cigarette pack, and a monthly subscription.

I cannot tell what the actual speeds were like, because I was browsing as a guest, and could not monitor the DL/UL speeds, but it wasn't as fast as you get at most cybercafes.

@Mamba: how can u say the N93 and N95 are basically the same phone?

@amby, i really dont see much difference in both devices especially when you already have n93. is it really worth moving from n93 to n95? they both can do the same thing, except you are looking at the design.

Yes I am looking at the design, I'm also looking at the display quality, the N95 has 16million colours. I'm also looking at internal memory.
These are enough factors to make me want to upgrade if I had a N93, but not at any cost.

I heard this at the Vendor stand as I was buying my paper a few minutes ago: "Na catarrh make Yar'adua fly go Germany. Where e go go if he get stomach problems?"

Had me in stitches!

@Brix: e(vi)l Rufai's Bulldozers at still doing a few high-profile demolisions like the one of Senator Zwingina the other day. He is more pre-occupied with leading the attack dogs agaisnt VP Atiku these days. The battel has moved to the International Scene. I heard hush-hush info that he has been doing the VP's duties for Baba. Here I go "politica" again....

Phone Talk: With the entry of Multi-links and Starcomms, Abuja will have 5 CDMA boys jostling for the action: Intercellular, Cellcom, Reltel, Multi-links and Starcomms. I think my year of having internet access @ home has finally arrived. But there seems to be a major difference between the quoted speeds and reality.

I will like Amby/AYA to tell me if VOIP apps like Skype work with ur Starcomms/Multi-links connections. That is something I really desire since my Sis has just joined my Bro in the UK.

The death of political gist on PNF.........

@mamba: I used to. Im a dealer of thiers now.

@amby: Dont attract armed robbers to my house o!!! You dont know who is reading this thread!!!!! Clarify this netcom thing for me. what do you mean by 1Gb? Is that a data cap?

@coola: Starcomms gave Maiduguri and Kano free local on-net calls for a year and a half! (not limited to friends and family). Can you beat that? I dont know what offer they intend on lauching but it has too be something!!

@2tek: let me know when you are ready and i'll give him a call to tell me what he can do.

@coola: Yes; you can run VOIP services on Starcomms' CDMA 1x. I have an associate who even does VOIP over the significantly slower Glo GPRS. But obviously, there will be times when the connection is so slow that attempting VOIP would be tomfoolery.

@abubakar: the MyNetcom 1GB is a pseudo-cap of sorts. According to MyNetcom, once you reach that limit ina given month, your browsing speed will be drastically reduced for the rest of that month.
