K750 / W800 Firmware Overview |

met with SE at CommunicAsia several times last week, where they were flashing any older connector models for free. (had i known, i would have brought EVERYTHING.) official SE response: O2 is not permitting them to flash the 750i.
translation: custom 'O2 Active' features would probably become free or unstable after a flash and O2 does not want that to happen.
spoke with O2 tech support, O2 customer service, and several O2 stores. mixed answers i was told: (a) by one store: 20th-June store shipment is delayed until 4th-July, by CSR: stores know nothing until the phones arrive, so don't believe 4th July (b) by CSR: release delayed indefinately suggest another handset, (c) by another store: i would be wait-listed, (d) don't let 28 day replacement period pass w/o replacement, (e) let 28 day replacement period pass w/o replacement as everyone in O2 should know, (f) whichever channel (online, high-street, call centre) you acquire the phone will have to handle your phone - translation - no flashes at the local O2 store.
translation: i plan to wait until 28 day of replacement period to ask for a new 750i or a certificate for a new phone anytime within next year. i want something in writing. give me blood !!

There's one thing I'd like to know: what are the big problems with the new firmware so that all operators asked SE to block the firmware update service?
I red that O2 users couldn't use GPRS anymore, of course it's a HUGE problem and it's normal that O2 blocked the update, but I though it was only the case with the O2 network...
Why did Vodafone, Orange... also block it? From what I understood, the new firmware wasn't bad at all: it helped lots of ppl that had the freezing/reboots problem, the phone was faster... only complaint was a maybe worse photo quality (even if it's true, I think that having worse picture quality but a phone not freezing is better anyway).
I have an Orange (Switzerland) K750, week 23 with original R1A044 firmware and don't have the reboot/freezing issues, didn't have the time to update the new firmware before it was removed, that's why I'm asking about the problems with it... |

Actually O2 were quite prepared to exchange it for a brand new K750i, but as they have stopped selling it for the time being, they haven't got any in stock.

So they should! It's there GPRS/settings that aren't working on the new f/w, besides they are stocking the product, and an official update from SE shouldn't cause these problems. Im just hoping my repair/reflash job will go okay, im not being fobbed off with a replacement phone, if O2 can't get it to reflash/work they WILL be getting me other K750i...but less cross that bridge when we get there. |

ive just been trying to update my unbranded k750 and when it initializes the SEUS part...and asks if ive got my phone plugged in etc., i click yes and it goes initializing phone or something like that..basically just preparing it for the update, but i wait like 10 minutes and nothing happens? is this normal or is it related to SE blocking the update with other carriers?
Edit: nevermind, i just tried it again after leaving it for a while and it worked fine, phone is now updated to latest FW

Anyone have problems loading wap.google.com on the new firmware? This used to work fine for me, now I can't load Google at all! I'm on T-Mobile USA.

All people who are having problems with their K750:
Write to your local SE service department (found on the localised support page). Discribe the problem and ask them to address it in the next FW update. The more people that complain about a prob (volume level, cam quality,...) the greater the chance of them fixing it (quickly).

The more ppl BUG SE the quicker we get a stabilized firmware )
Tho i wrote whole issue (new firmware bugs) to SE thru SE Contact page.
Waited for a reply from SE..
