very true @O2.

Chapter 112 from the Glorious Quran states the oneness of Allah:

Say: He is Allah, the One and Only;

Allah, the Eternal, Absolute;

He begetteth not, nor is He begotten;

And there is none like unto Him.

Its not up to you or to us to decide what we want in the afterlife, we too do not know hows its like, but the Quran do give us some infos what is taken into account during that time, but we cant imagine how its like, same as we cant imagine how God Allah is like...

In Taoism one can choose how one will exist, either as we do now, manifesting in this world, or as one with the Tao. One has the ability to shape one's own existence. Life, the afterlife, they are all part of the same whole for the Taoist.

There is no Heaven in Taoism, or Hell either for that matter, there is the Tao. One's goal is to become one with the Tao, to reach a state of complete nothingness and completeness. Life and death are the same thing for the Taoist, they are part of the Tao and are two faces of the same thing.

I am as free as I choose to make myself, we all are.

Taoism doesn't really have a concept of absolute right and absolute wrong, there are shades of grey. There isn't the same idea ofs in in Taoism as there is in, for example, Islam. Good and bad are relative terms to the Taoist, but Taoists believe that people are inherently compassionate and will act thusly if left to their own devices.

Taoists believe in compassion and that to act compassionately will foster compasison in others. People do do bad things though, the Taoist learns to accept that, good and bad are both part of this existence and they should be accepted as such.

One should concern himself with acting compassionately though and this will be reciprocated.

@whizkidd

Heaven is a state of reward for good deeds done on Earth and for living a good life. Taoists believe that one should help others and show compassion, but with no desire to gain from those actions. The reason for acting compassionately is because it is the natural way of things.

An example:

Someone who believes in a Heaven may give a starving man food because it is a good deed and good deeds will lead to a place in Heaven. The Taoist gives the starving man the food because he is hungry.

Nomadic? Can you elaborate please?

Chapter 15 Verse 9 from the Glorious Quran, Almighty Allah states that he will protect the Holy Quran from corruption and as i have mentioned before it is the only book not to have changed since days of revelation. You can go to any corner of the world and ask for the Holy Quran and you will find the same copy. When the Creator of mankind says he will protect a book, he does it accordingly.

We have, without doubt, sent down the Message; and We will assuredly guard it from corruption.

@PeterKay

How ironic! There seems to be a multitude of people today who would seek to corrupt that message.

@scotsboyuk, how true.

There are people out there who would try to corrupt the truth but as God Almighty has promised complete protection - they will not get far.

Chapter 10 Verses 57 states:

O mankind! There has come to you a good advice from your Lord (i.e. the Quran, ordering all that is good and forbidding all that is evil), and a healing for that (disease of ignorance, doubt, hypocrisy and differences) in your breasts, - a guidance and a mercy (explaining lawful and unlawful things) for the believers.

With respect, that doesn't seem to be doing very much to stop the extremists who are blowing people up ...

Chapter 59 Verses 22-24 States:

Allah is He, than Whom there is no other god;- Who knows all things both secret and open; He, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.

Allah is He, than Whom there is no other god;- the Sovereign, the Holy One, the Source of Peace and Perfection, the Guardian of Faith, the Preserver of Safety, the Exalted in Might, the Irresistible, the Supreme: Glory to Allah. High is He above the partners they attribute to Him.

He is Allah, the Creator, the Evolver, the Bestower of Forms or Colours. To Him belong the Most Beautiful Names: whatever is in the heavens and on earth, doth declare His Praises and Glory: and He is the Exalted in Might, the Wise.

I didn't mention the word Muslim now did I?

You are quite correct though, extremists do exist in other faiths too. To be quite honest I do consider those sorts to be of those religions since they don't teach or practice the values inherent to those religions.

I certainly wouldn't consider someone like bin Laden to be a Muslim since his actions are contradictory to Islam just as I wouldn't consider people who protest at gay funerals to be Christian.

@peterkay, as a liberal muslim, what do you opine of other belief systems? Especially polytheistic faiths which i believe is much deplored in the quran!(forgive me if i'm wrong about that part) I believe that every human being has the capability to choose between right and wrong. He is free to practise any religion he wishes. I do not believe in conversions which according to me are nothing but selfish attempt to show that "my religion is better than yours"There is no such thing as a superior religion.
