What's the square beside ToF?
It is almost same dimensions of X1.
Hard to believe it could be much more than 3300 mAh x1 has ....
X5+ page on gsmarena says Full HD, SD855, 4000 mAh, same cameras of X5.
I dont know where they got from.

Hope they don't create another explosive phone!
Looking at the dimension especially the width and thickness are thinner than Xperia 1(8.1 versus 8.2). Should be better grip and more comfortable to hold! (Xperia 5 should still be more comfortable compared to them though )

9.3 mm counts the camera.
The phone itself is 8 or 8.1 mm ....
I think this is what we call "1.1".
They advertise 5 as "pocket friendly". " Easier to hold". "In the palm of your hand".
Makes no sense to replace for a bigger phone like this.
According to Buks, they believe phones will cause more interest in 2020 also have better sales.
Since the A series ( they were twin of Z compacts), they did not have exclusive Japan flagship.

Looks like they have been listening to all the gripes and complaints this time around. I actually like the side-mounted FPS. The less grubby thumb marks on the screen the better AFAIC.

Watch Xperia 1 teardown. Looks like there's plenty of room next to the battery. Compared to Z5 width of the battery does not seem to spread as much. Also there was talk about how they had to use XZ3 battery to rush the production. So it's not impossible to fit more in there. All other manufacturers do it.
I also think this is big to be called 5. But spec wise it might make sense. Could be the all rumored Xperia 3. I didn't think we'd see a 3 but you never know. |

Ppl may be right. Rumor was about X3 for Japan exclusive.
They have a patent of a new kind of FPS.
I think current os optical, while patent is ultrasonic.
Still on the side.
Many things I asked through TT was heard.
Wish I could give a 🎁 to person responsible for TT account for delivering my ideas.
White glass, eye AF, front speakers etc ...
All i need to know is if there IBIS inside. |

According to new post of android next we have :
Top = 12MP 1/1.5"
Second = 64MP (unknown size)
Middle = 2MP Tof and beside it a periscope with OIS (unknown specs)
Last = 12MP 1/3.4" UWA
I am confused. They translated as wide and main.
Do we have monochrome here?

Wow they added periscope mode
(5x optical sensor !!)
https://androidnext.info/?p=1423
By the way, a periscope is originally a “periscope”, but it is called this way because cameras such as smartphones refract light and deliver it to the sensor.
The above image is from another model, but the mechanism should be basically the same.
To zoom in (or zoom out) by moving the lens up and down or left and right instead of moving the lens back and forth when viewing the terminal from the back.
Therefore, there is an advantage that the thickness of the terminal can be reduced even if a telephoto camera with a relatively large magnification is installed.

I dont like name 5+.
I want them to call it Z6.
Much better !!!
I will demand this tomorrow.
I suspect the 64MP is the 50 - 52mm.
Photographers consider 25mm as super wide, 35 - 69 mm as Wide/standard, 70-200 as zoom and 200+ as telephoto.

This doesn't make sense. Bigger sensors are easier to make ultra wide. Just like Huawei the 1/1.5 could be that. But a generic imx686 for standard is unlikely while the super wide is custom. Though it could be mono, the 12mp one.
2mp tof is yet unheard of in mobile. That square part is for infrared can't fit a periscope 5x there. And the 1/3.4 is super wide? Where's the telephoto?
This image can't be of 1m2. Thus it doesn't fit to cam specs. |

Not quite.
As everything is referenced to full frame, a normal lens is around 50mm.
Wide angle is less than 50mm, though the distinction for ultra wide is less obvious, itbseemsnto be less than 20mm.
A long lens is anything longer than a normal lens.
A telephoto lens is technically a type of lens that is shorter than its focal length. A 1000mm lens wouldn't be 1m long. Most of the time any long lens is referred to as a telephoto as they generally are.
A zoom lens is one with a variable focal length, so far we haven't seen that in phones. The range can be anything, just that it's variable, so you can get ultra wide zoom and most kit lenses cover a wide to long 28-70 range, with 50mm normal in the middle.

I am glad Steve never knows the right name.
He gave XZ4, X2 and X20.
So, I suppose 5+ is wrong too.
About the FPS.
Maybe they decided to pay royalties instead of 2 buttons.
I dont think anyone would mind paying $10, $20, $30 more ..
