@Xugaa
Those 'bumps' are gaming buttons, like the ones on the W550/W600. And in the K800 they can be used for the use of the camera to use various settings. Apparently you can also choose to program them so you can instanly go to menus from the standby screen.

I beleive these two buttons have functions in horizontal mode (ie camera and browsing and maybe games).

Did anyone else notice that on the Japanese site one of the pics of the K800 shows it to have Phone Memory 80mb Free??? I was under the impression that it will only have 64 mb on board...

The K800i's internal memory is 80mb, upgraded from 64mb, as depicted by the picture... The final package is yet to be released.

And another feature is that you can use the lighting feature during video recording as well, so no need to record in the Dark.

cheers ...

this could be true, maybe SE added some more memory to it. i mean the final proper specs have not yet been released, only brief/unsure or vanilla specs like on the white paper. i certainly hope so...

i just noticed that on the specs for the k800 on SE's website, the 64mb memory has a * next to it, maybe indicating that this is not confirmed and more maybe added??

Do any of you guys have any thoughts on the integrity of pre-released phones off Ebay?

I mean - are they any less of the actual product - specifically relating to Lexus7's experience with finding a K800...?

Any thoughts greatly appreciated! Cheers.

@jasond - just a word of caution. A couple of months ago someone tried to steal my ebay account - the were able to login to it and list items, but were unable to change the email address on it. They listed about 20 items in one day, all of them looking very legit, however they posted an email address inside the auction for questions. Obviously they did that so that questions would not be directed to me, because I would sound off the alarm right away. Well, as luck would have it, I had my ebay linked to my work email account and I have a work phone with mobile email on it (like a blackberry) and found out about the listings immediately and had them canceled by reporting them to ebay.

The point is - don't trust listings just because the person making them has a perfect ebay rating (I do). First thing I'd stay away from is if the listing has an email address listed IN it for questions; ALL questions should go through the "Ask Seller a Question" part of ebay, not a separate email address.

I must add that I regularly get questions from people wanting more info about the stuff I sell.
So someone is using my name and e-mail address, as I never had any e-bay account.

No it will be 64mb. I read on the mobile-review or somewhere that once you delete the stuff includedon the phone already you will have about 82mb. And i saw a picture of it, could be the mobile-review k800i review if i remember correctly.
So in that photo above thatperson has just deleted things i think.

You have to be ESPECIALLY careful of those emails because they are actually phishing for your login/password. On the surface, it all looks legit, as if you are getting a question from a buyer such as: " when are you going to ship ..." Or " does this item come with ...". The email will come in looking JUST like the one you'd get from eBay if you were actually selling something and getting questions, however if you click on the link inside this email, it will take you to a web site which looks identical to ebay's login site and ebay will even be part of the url, however it will likely be in the form of ebay.blahblahblah.com, which is NOT ebay. If the basic site URL does not END on .ebay.com, then I'd be suspicious. Another phishing scam related to ebay going around is something of the sort: " You have won a $100 gift certificate for ebay, all you have to do is login to ebay and stay logged in for an hour" <- SCAM

Anyways - as I said, I've been a victim of ebay scams and frauds so I've learned my lesson. Anytime you get an email with a question from a member for something you supposedly sold (and you didn't) - go to ebay's web site directly and report this email to ebay. DO NOT follow the links inside said emails, that's how they capture your id/password.

PS Sorry for going so far offtopic...

@Tervel, that's ok I think there's relevance in there for everyone!

Looking specifically back to the K800, with the exception of security issues and piracy of account details, do you think there would be any shortcomings with some of the early sales of the K800 on Ebay?

Where might one (in general) suppose that the seller would get the phones from?

Would there be chances that the software would be brown, etc, etc?

Only after opinions here, as no doubt it's hard for anyone to deliver a definitive answer!

I'd have 2 issues with getting early release phones from ebay - 1)warranty, 2)firmwware upgradeability. If these early versions are not covered under a specific SE warranty, anything that might go wrong with them would be uncovered. If SE specifically does NOT provide firmware upgrades to these early release phones, then you're stuck on beta, pre-release firmware forever. Not saying that that's the case of the phones on ebay, just something to look into before buying.

Most users feel tempted to buy one of theese early versions but beside the cons already mentioned, we don't know how much the phone has changed beside the cybershot sticker... I will defenitely wait, after all, it's almost out

With regards to the last post and it's question, i personally contacted this person and he states that he is taking delivery of these handsets at the end of the auction. This is why he had the auction run for a specified duration. He also states that he acquired them from Romania. I am an EBay member and buy and sell alot of mobile phones (my user id is 303111) I have 100% feedback with 293 points and i am a power seller. You are definately correct in saying that honesty and credibility play an important factor when purchasing any item from EBay. I offer a 100% service always as this is the way i expect to be treated myself. I am a Sony Ericsson fanatic (i own 1 of each, W810i,W550i,W900i) I am seriously considering buying 1 of these K800i as the specification is awesome.
