@mamba: What's crazy? God, I miss the good old days of this thread.
Soon I'll start a collection of quotes from previous posts from about two years ago.
We had some good people posting here who were quite informative...not that the thread ain't as informative, it just seems like politics and pending elections have overtaken all other conversations///

Isn't that less than the Dubai-based company paid for their GSM licence?

I was in PH last week, and the security situation there gives one cause 4 concern. Bank robberies & kidnapping are the order of the day. The shocking aspect is that people stand by & watch as robberies take place & applaud when the bad guys shoot.
I'll welcome glo's 3ple play if its affordable.

Isn't this what Mr. Nweke, our (dis)Honourable Minister of (mis)Information was splitting his hairs on on CNN about? Why is it that the Nigerian government under OBJ always want to sell dummies to people?
Isn't it a well known fact that there is an insurrection going on in the Niger Delta? So why denying the obvious? Why describing a place where foreigners are kidnapped or killed almost on a daily basis as a peaceful area? Shouldn't there be a decorum about the lies that we tell?

@brix25: Mubadala Devt. Co. of UAE was offered a unified access service licence for $400m.
The issue is that the COO of one of the GSM networks( speaking the mind of his competitors) was expecting the 3G licence to be given to the existing networks at little or no cost to compensate them for their ''heavy investment'' in the communications sector. Let's see how this plays out.

ambyz: why wouldnt people stand around when there is less chance of gettn shot accidentally from them than a police man's "accidental misfire"!
brix: technogist dried up cos of 2 seasons
1 there hasnt been any new innovations in a long time
2 switchfrom free gprs to costly gprs has hindered most froz trying out any apps which we'd be fallin over ourselves to comment and debate over. SAD AINT IT

It's going to be ridiculous if the existing players have to say exorbitant fees for 3G licences when it's in Nigeria's interest to ease access to information technology...they're looking for a quick buck in the short term but better technologies will improve Nigeria's competitiveness in the long run.

adrusa: gone are the days of effective spin doctors in our govt that could tell us the sky is red and we'd agree. in the past, harsh action would have been taken on the insurgency in the delta and the bad news would be covered up. now inaction is followed by acclaims of peace and tranquility. its a shame. we dont see any diplomacy happening. we dont see any development.

brix: the initial money the collected for gsm licences went into thin airand it gave the companies carte blanche to make us pay thru the nose. any company coming in now really must of had its feasibility studies checked out. |

Brix nothing good will ever come out of corrupt officials. Their agenda is to fatten their wallets and suck us dry. We will always remain technologically behind. But nigeria will be great again. |

We have not seen anything cos they mean business. I hope they don't start killing these Oyibo people soon

I'm wondering why we are all so excited about 3g. Even gprs most of us could not afford. Wont we need an arm and a leg to use 3g? |
