Okay, about the cancer thing, so there is a cure. Why would doctors share it with the world? They make more money from cancer than they would make from the cure. There is a war in Congo. America says it is an internal affair. Why? Because there is more money coming out of that war into Americas pockets than there would be from peace in that country. Same thing with telkon(intentionally spelled like that) the government gets more money from them if they suck the country dry. So wherever anyone has ever gotten the idea that any government will look out for their good, i dont know. Criminals have more rights than the innocent.
So yeah, i smoke the most expensive pipe tobacco, and 50bucks lasts a week between me and 2 other friends. Only smoke outside at night or at the pool club where everyone smokes. Everyone comes to us and ask us what we smoke because the smell is so pleasant. Going to nap. Bonfire at my place tonight. Got quite a few friends coming. Only will smoke afterwards, just considerate. |

Eish mense, summer is here! Ja ok, i know it's still spring, but the weather is stunning in PE! Absolutely windless for once, the sun is setting, and it's a pleasant 24 degrees in my backyard. Two short little weeks from today i'll be sitting outside the holiday place in the Langkloof, tending a cooking fire... Bring it on!!

So we did the bonfire thing tonight. Great weather for it. We usually do it often during the winter, but not really this year. Everyone just left, as we all have busy days tomorrow. Usually we would go play pool aswell. Got band practise tomorrow then an engagement braai in the evening.
Want to post pictures of the evening, but yeah, even the full html version gives crap. Maybe i should see if i can get it posted using internet explorer instead of firefox. What did you guys do? |

I hung out with some friends from parliament- won't say which party they work for. The night ended relatively early as I've got work today and busy day afterwards.

My daughter had some of her Grade 1 friends sleeping over last nite, so we hired some kiddy movies, and i duly spent the evening watching Barbie in her many guises before calling it an early nite.

That is correct, same with tatoos, if God wanted us to have em, he woulda given em to us.
1st of all, i am a very "natural loving" person, in terms of, i like things as they were created. Your body should be kept as it is, without make up, tatoos, smoking, even drinking in some cases puts me off.
As to having a divorce coz of smoking, it goes deeper than actually smoking.
We made a promise to each other, that neither of us will ever smoke (we both used to smoke) and promises is something i take to very seriously. I hardly ever make promises.
And about the church wedding thing, is something we both decided on.
We come from different churches, why should either of us get baptised and all those "neccecerry" things to be accepted in a new church, especially if you feel that the message that the new church is sending out is not right?
We both agree on this.

Had a long day at work yesterday.
Then got home, binged on some Chinese take-aways and then mowed the lawn, installed some garden lighting and chilled in front of Sky TV's best offerings...nothing too mind-blowing.

Now here's an ama-cheap-cheap deal for a Bluetooth headset and phone combo: trade in any old phone and get a basic Sagem my-X401 (VGA cam) with Bluetooth headset for a whopping £29.99 (approx R390).
The phone is however locked to T-Mobile, but it's still cheap for what you're getting...considering the value of a B/T headset in itself...

Also, the K800i is available on O2 PAYG now, for £214.99 (approx R2795)when you trade in any old brick AND use The Link's 10% online promotion code on their website. No branding on the O2 phone.

I hear you, Rhino, under those circs i agree with you. My cuz and 1 of my best friends are getting married in a few weeks, they're in a similar situation too, with the Father wanting him to be baptized despite having been a baptized member of his own congregation for 20plus years. Utter tripe! The upshot is that they're getting married elsewhere, by a minister who's not as parochial as the good Father. To think that these are grown folks, both over 30, level-headed, neither married before, sat thru months of marriage prep classes, just to hear this crap a few weeks before their big day. Yeah right, and then the churches wonder why ppl are drifting away...

I agree that that is nonsense. Did Paul and them baptize guys each time they changed the people they were part of? No. Tradition is the biggest killer of the church. Other than gay right movements who i have read are targeting their attacks specifically towards the churches. The guy behind the biggest of these movements wrote something about it, and it is not because of anything but to bring the church down that they are doing it. And all the gays jump on the bandwagon because they think it is for gay rights. I must say, the guy behind it is using clever tactics.
Another article i read said that Europe is becoming more and more muslim. The europeans despise the church, want nothing to do with it, and they are growing more violent, divorce is at an all time high, and society is falling apart around them, and they are puzzled by this and are asking 'why?'. People only see and think what they want to see and think. I have a stupid zen saying i made up: avoid the wrong and the right will come:)

One thing i have seen some of my friends do, and it works well, is to start going to the same church, the one you plan to go to together after you are married. You do this for a few months and you do things through them. It is where your life is going to be.
The church my friends went to was a new church, and a great place. A place of relationship. None of this if and where you were baptized and useless nonsense like that. There is just pure relationship, the genuine 'who are YOU?' thing, not the 'are you baptized' or 'how much do you make?' thing. I have heard some churches ask to see your payslips to join. What is with that? It is exactly like the church leaders at the time of Jesus, trying to buy tickets for eternity. This world is a sick sick world.

Francois, i wholeheartedly agree with you. I'm terribly fortunate in that Mrs.K and i were at the same congregation when we got together. I'd been friends with her brother for years, only really noticed her (or rather, she noticed me!) much later... To me it was a blessing in disguise, since the last thing i would ever have wanted would've been the disharmony that sometimes results when couples are of different denominations or faiths, and kids are born...

@da wanqsta: That K800i on o2 looks quite generous. There's no way we're getting a K800i on any South African network for under R3000.

@ kryptic, the one thing they taught in my youth days was that if you go into a relationship you have to be equally yoked, meaning, if you are a christian and your partner is not, there are going to be problems. I think the only line of belief that it does not matter is new age. I mean, lots of new age lines are pretty much 'choose your own religion': add what you like and just ignore what you don't. Very convenient. I have seen ladies in a church environment be married to guys that do not believe, and the pain they go through is just not worth it. You have to sleep on the bed you made, so while making the bed, use your head.(no, the one on your shoulders:)
The one thing that was cool to see is our youth leader back in the day. She and a guy were starting to see each other, both out of similar yet way different churches. He was doing research at Oxford at the time. When he got back they both decided to get involved in the same church together, and got engaged during that time, or maybe earlier.... |
