Well I cannot confirm Qualcomm info but Sony doesn't plan to update S to 5.0. Android 4.1.2 will be the final update for S/SL/Acro S/Ion/Go/P. |

For the Honami or One Sony or whatever, how big are the individual pixels?
Like for the Exmor RS 13 megapixel sensors its 1.1micrometers. What is it for the supposedly beastly camera on the Honami.
Between 1.5 microns to 1.9 microns, depending on final max resolution.
Sounds VERY good. I'd rather it be closer to 1.9 to 2.2 microns though, to compete with the HTC One's low-light performance, while maintaining a higher resolution.

Then they can kiss at least me goodbye as a customer, and I have been a Sony "fanboy" since early 80s... |

Fine by me, I won't even update my phone to 4.1. If it's anything like, or exactly like the Z/ZL's UI Im sticking to ICS. Hopefully they do a better job with the software on the Honami. |

Bye bye to you. Haha
I'm a Xperia Ion user and I'm also disappointed with this news. Hope Sony will reconsider this decision, though, I'm not those crazy fanatics starting petition or spreading hate to Sony. Still love Sony! @Randomuser, how confirmed is the source? |

Dont get the fascination of getting the latest version of android. If your phone runs perfectly, why update? If the extra features in the new update is not needed, why update? Dont understand why people are putting themselves in such stress... For goodness sake, it's only a f*cking update, not life and death.
Also, if your love for updates are so strong, why not just root your phone or something. Stop moaning about it, really sick and tired of people crying over a stupid update.

Depends on which update. Going from ICS to JB was very important, due to the performance improvement. Going to 4.2.2 wasn't so important. I don't know what 5.0/4.3 brings but my guess is it will be major. |

Sony will not make its own chips for 2014 but make custom high end chips with Qualcomm. The custom chips will be better performing than the best Qualcomm chip and be exclusive to Sony. Like Apple A5X, A6 , A7 etc.
And phablet name will not be an alphablet

Now this is a juicy rumor. XR5? Could this be why Sony is being given preferential treatment for the S800 SOC?

Yes
How confirmed is it that the Snapdragon S3 devices wont get updated? Is there a possibility Sony might change its mind? Or it is only a rumour? Many thanks. |

Very little chance they will change the decision. And all manufacturers aim to update their phones to at least 1 new Android version, 2 in case of high end.
Sony has given the 2012 line up 2 android updates - from 2.3 to 4.0, and 4.1.
